Prevailing Storylines of the Debates

A few days out now, the media storylines and images in people's minds have jelled.

Looking for one or two words that describe the meaningful fallout from each of the first two debates, what do we have?

Chimp - incompetent, bumbling, disinterested, boob
Kerry - presidential

Chain-knee - liar, mean
Edwards - held his own, attractive AND forceful

1. I'd agree with the first one

Don't think the second one has gained enough traction to be uncontested. The second was more of a draw in the sense that both sides could see what they wanted.

The right saw a masterful sharp Dick Cheney teaching the wet behind the ears Edwards a lesson. We saw mean smirking and not entirely honest Cheney getting taught a lesson by smart young Edwards.

The distinction is that after the first debate even such ideologues as Rush Limbaugh were admitting that President Bush didn't do very good. This debate, they are a lot calmer.

So not a clean victory either way.

3. Yeah, Bryan... if facts aren't important.

You're absolutely correct in your assessment of the Veep debate... unless the right considers facts to be important, Cheney did look fatherly-wise.

Kerry: leader
Chimp: incompetent

Cheney: arrogant
Edwards: charming
