2. Kerry must use that terminology Friday night
Mulligan has a wimpy connotation, a concession of failure or that you weren't ready, not warmed up enough before ascending the first tee box. Network golf analysts like Johnny Miller use the term disparagingly all the time.

Kerry should mock Bush by saying something like, "I'm sure they would also like a mulligan on planning this war in Iraq."

Kerry could take advantage of this opportunity not only to needle Bush, but also to gain some traction among white middle aged golfers or that type. Make sure your terminology is perfect or the golf analogy will backfire and be mocked. I'm not sure if Kerry is a golfer.

It could be something like, "Golfers know all about mulligans. But mulligans are immediate. You tee up another ball and hit away, hopefully on the sweet spot -- straight and long. It took this president 6 full days to manufacture his mulligan, no doubt with as many consultants as the number of mistakes he made last Thursday night. If I am president you can count on one thing -- the truth from day one, no mulligans required."

4. He needs to do more than that
He needs to show up in pants and shirt that have two different checkered patterns on them and also wear a sweater vest. He also needs to wear a white belt and have a little white hat on with a red dingle on top of it.

:)

3. Now Watch This Mulligan!
That was my blog entry title today. George W. Mulligan duped the media into covering his stump speech.

7. At the golf outings I attend
Before you tee off, you can buy 2 Mulligans for $20. Each 4some can buy $80 worth. It's a great way to raise funds, too.
