We're two for two. Tonight, in Cleveland, John Edwards showed real strength and conviction -- he was in command of the facts and in control of the debate and a powerful advocate for John Kerry. The American people saw John Edwards as somebody who is ready, if neccessary, to be president of the United States.

Dick Cheney is totally out of touch with reality in Iraq and totally out of touch with the struggles of the middle class. This is nothing new to a man with a lifetime record of protecting the powerful and well-connected. He came across as smug, arrogant, mean and defensive -- but his trademark distortions and scare tactics didn't work. John Edwards refused to let him play the politics of fear and forced Dick Cheney to confront his administration's record of failure.

Americans are tired of growls and scowls from our leaders, and John Edwards and John Kerry offer America hope and optimism.

The Bush-Cheney campaign is already trying to spin the debate. I am here in Cleveland, right now, working to make sure that doesn't happen. Tonight my job is going to be a lot easier than my Republican counterparts for three reasons. First, John Edwards is our candidate for vice president, second Dick Cheney is theirs, and third I know that you are going to join me in this critical fight.

Here is what you can do:

Did you see how CNN dropped the "who won" poll and replaced it with a "did it change your vote" poll. When I took it earlier and it was a "who won" Edwards was smoking. They must have decided they didnt want to slam Bush both debates so far and yanked it. Then over at Time same thing. They had a "who won" poll but have now dropped it and replaced it with a "send us you comments on the debate" here is what i sent them


John Edwards won this debate hands down. One thing became very clear to me with this debate, John Edwards and John Kerry have fresh new ideas and strategies for addressing the problems we face in this country. New ways to confront Terror, to protect us at home, to address growing poverty, to help make health insurance more affordable, to fix the mess in Iraq and to put people back to work. Bush Cheney want to give us 4 more years of the same ideas and strategies. John Kerry and John Edwards clearly care about, and will fight for, the working class and Bush Cheney want to give tax cuts to the rich and to help corporations.

Another thing that became clear tonight is that Bush and Cheney distort the truth continually. They don't tell the truth to the American public about the state of our union, the war in Iraq and mostly about the record and positions of John Kerry & John Edwards. On many occasions John Edwards pointed out the miss direction and miss information, like Cheney's constant drawing of connections between iraq and Al Quada or 911, or the truth about the horrible drug company windfalls in the healthcare bill, or how they constantly claim John Kerry would let other countries have authority over our military decisions. I was glad to see Cheney finally confronted on these and many other distortions that he continually spews on the campaign trail.

Lastly john Edwards was positive and communicated hope for a better way and a better day. Cheney promised more of the same and instilled fear by continually threatening the American people with possible terrorist strikes with chemical or nuclear weapons. When in fact it is their administration that has not funded security here at home leaving our ports vulnerable, our nuclear and chemical plants un protected, airline cargos not checked and the worst the creation of a new terrorist training ground by creating a mess in Iraq.

John Edwards made it clear tonight. Its time for a new direction, its time for new ideas, its time for a change, its time for the country to vote for Kerry Edwards!

This is the first and only time that I have ever cursed on DU, and I apologize, but this is something that we should have thought of. I checked out FR, wondering if they had a similar list of polls, and they sure do, but they didn't have to do the work, as we did, to compile it. They just stole ours and readily admit it. And I'm someone who's always cold. I was so impressed with the great job that the guys on DU did in organizing these polls for us. It took a lot of work, but they did it well and fast. My carpal tunnel is killing me after I voted in so many polls!

But these bastards just stole our list and are boasting about having done so!!! This really sent me over the edge, even though Edwards won all of them by wide margins.

On FR they are still saying that Cheney won, though I cannot imagine why. Yes, I know that they do this *sh*t* all the time. But that doesn't make it right. I am a member there, so I know their rules. But I have avoided them since the Republican convention, until tonight. The only thing "right" about them is their bs. They just cannot get a grasp.

It occurred to me immediately that they would be over here stealing.

What I do find annoying is that their trashy traffic puts a crimp in DU. In the past I suggested (to admin) to restrict them to the home page during high traffic. They don't just steal content, they theft the bandwidth.

They can't freep reality forever. For that we are grateful.

ps.. for the carpel tunnel .. try this, when you go to sleep at night, make a conscious effort to not curl your wrists, keep them straight. It worked wonders for me.

But you can see how this would send me over the edge, since they stole from us and are boasting about it. I have belonged to Free Republic for awhile. It's just been recently that I have felt I had to avoid them because I couldn't keep my temper. I got really angry about their attacks on John Kerry's Vietnam War record and certainly defended him. I told them that this was not a good issue for Bush*-Cheney, without the *, of course, LOL! You can imagine how they reacted.

Yes, of course, you're right, I should just avoid them. But I do want to know what they're up to. I live in a blue state, but in a red district. I am surrounded by Freepers, scary thought.

And you are right, that they cannot get a grasp. Edwards won every poll by a large margin, but they are still claiming on FR that Cheney won. They manage to delude themselves so easily. And they believe the lies. I am hearing a repeat of them right now, on C-Span.

Thanks for the advice about the carpal tunnel. I have a wrist brace, but can't find it. I'll try this, but it's feeling better.

I know that they aren't worth the sweat, but I'm surrounded by them, in my family and in my community, so I've gotten sensitive. I have gotten good at detecting the lies, thanks to DU, and find it harder and harder to deal with.
