My version of the October Surprise....
think about it....but remember where you saw it...from me...(more as it develops)

The october surprise will happen as such:

over the summer a manly republican type who appeals to the masses (pugs and dems) will suddenly take a change of course and come out in strong support of the president...(DONE)

someone who could get elected because their background has been fairly well scrubbed and they could occupy the ticket very quickly(DONE)

The president will quietly change the scheduling of his annual physical until after the election (DONE)

The president will appear tired, drawn out...will falter at the debate(s)....some talk will arise that maybe there is more going on.... maybe a hidden sickness...(DONE)

Some will want to know more about why he delayed his physical (DONE)

He will have some kind of episode where he collapses, faints, or otherwise cause that he needs to "see a doctor" (TBD)

The doctor will require a more detailed physical examination by the presidents own physicians....this will drown out the KE efforts in the news getting their message out (TBD)

It will become knowledge that the heart valve problem/acute mental illness/need for liver transplant is just greater than the run for the presidency....and Bush will step down...Cheney will take over until a new ticket can be whipped together....but who could be the nominee...someone the public knows...someone who has recently kissed up to the president and supports him...someone national enough to get elected and have a background the public could trust(TBD)

But as nation we must "Buck up" and elect a president...the republicans agree and in an abbreviated convention Cheney steps down as VP nominee...... (TBD)

and John McCain steps up to run for the republian side of the ticket....with???dumroll???? Arnold Swartzenegger as VP (Maybe Guilianni) (TBD)

a more centrist republican ticket appeals to most repukes....and many dems....they win the presidency...the republican's version of the long-lost 'good twin' to BC04 evil twin that they now see will lose (TBD)

my nightmare is over i must go to sleep....

1. Only one problem
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 01:38 AM by Chomskyite
. . . Bush and Cheney and all of his crew HATE HATE HATE and HATE John McCain and vice versa. There's a million stories that bear this out.

My favorite is when Bush had McCain at some event in 2000 and raised his left arm in the air, the arm that was permanently disabled when McCain's plane was shot down. McCain gritted his teeth and said, "It doesn't GO THERE, asshole!"

Bush ignored him and kept smiling at the zombies who'd come to see them.

5. You have much more respect for
and faith in McCain than I do. If he truly possesses that anger and abhorrence of the Bush clan as you say, how can he be such an obsequious piece of shit? This is a man who spent a good portion of his youth fighting a bad war.

Either 1) He values his own political ambitions above his own self-respect, or 2) He really does love the Idiot King.

That being said, I think that is a far-fetched October surprise. Amazing how quickly the next month will flow by. I think reality will be rather mundane. I just hope Kerry dusts off the imposter easily and quickly and decisively.

17. It's definitely number one
He still harbors ambitions to get the Republican nomination. He and Guiliani will be kowtowing and scraping the floor to the Bushies once they're out of power, hoping to get access to their money and propaganda machines.

Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 02:05 AM by nostalgicaboutmyfutr
not liking (edited) them...it is about republicans about to lose the election because of BC04...they are out and the pukes will do anything to remain in power...even without Bush/Cheney....

it is only business....

2. Schwarzenneger...
... can't run. Not native born. Cheney has already been nominated by his convention and is on the ballot everywhere (besides, he won't give up until he's dead, buried and on his way to hell, and even then he'll still be telling lies about being dead).

McCain would love it, but the neo-cons won't give him the chance (what happened in 2000?).

Nope, ain't gonna happen. Bush wants this so badly his teeth ache (in order to be better than Poppy because he won a second term), and Cheney isn't going to give up, come hell, high water or heart trouble.

If there's going to be an October Surprise, it's going to be one that is planned to keep these guys in power.

Cheers.

7. Yes he can....
there is no rule that the VP has to be native borne....there has even been talk that arnie can run as VP with the knowledge that the president could step down and using (the 25th amendment, i believe) he would become president....

to be 'elected' you currently have to be native borne american....

10. same rules apply
I saw Clinton on Larry King, and King asked him if he'd run on someone's ticket in the future as VP. Clinton said he didn't believe it was possible, regardless of his wishes, as his understanding of Constitutional Law is that the intent of the Framers was for the VP--being a possible replacement for the Pres.--to be able to meet the same criteria; ie. the VP must be over 35 and a native-born citizen.

11. No, Arnie can't be VP...
in the US Constitution, can't recall what Art/Sec it is, but the VP must be a person who is eligible to be president....

CNN's Bill Schneider used to say the Dems were thinking of Clinton (Bill) as vp...and this guy is there No 1 political analyst....

8. funny....
i will take the comment as a jab in good fun...read my other posts if you think i'm a freeper...

I am not saying that I know anything...i am just saying that in my fantasy world of wondering how far the republicans would go.... to at the very least remain in the WH....it could happen...

i think that more people distrust/hate dick cheney than bush...what if the president was incapacitated in some way? Cheney would be the man....do you want that? do you think America wnts that?...i don't think that cheney would remain on the ticket in any capasity if that happened...BTW...want to scare someone who is sitting on the fence...tell them if something happens to bush, then cheney is president...i find that they usually say something like "that doen't sound good...at all..."

Also remember those words of wisdom "To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote. "...carl spackler

15. Too late for that
They're stuck with Dumbya just like the Illinois GOP is stuck with Keyes.

If Dumbya falters and McCain slides in (hypothetically) then the Kerrys might as well pick out drapes for the White House. The GOP ticket is finished. It's just too late to alter the game plan, and if Bush throws in the towel, that's tantamount to admitting defeat.

They're stuck with that ticket.

16. what i like most about bush losing....
is that so many republicans will then fight for the party as it should be...a home for true conservatives...not just a no when dems say yes....

this election will change the political landscape more than any recent election...to the detriment of the pukes...christo/facists will be kicked fom the party...

keep in mind on hard numbers the pukes never have more than dems as registered voters...they are just better at getting the pukes to vote...until this year.

Expect the pukes to pull any trick to keep people from get a vote cast...here in colorado any provisional ballot will only count the vote for president and not for any other office....they will hem and haw about all the newly regstered dem voters when they actually show up to the polls....don't be surprised if many polling places just can't handle the traffic....some polls will end up closing with lines out the door....
