Idea for a Kerry Ad ... comments please ...
during the Gore-bush debates in 2000, bush said we should never commit American forces to a war without a clear exit strategy ... what do you think of the following idea for an ad?

Announcer: American troops have been at war in Iraq for more than 18 months with no end in sight. let's listen to President bush's own words on this subject:

play video of bush from the 10/17/00 debate where bush says "we should never commit American troops to war without a clear exit strategy." ...

audio of bush's statement about exit strategies is repeated over and over and over while the video shows news footage of Iraq bombings, burning buildings, body counts and beheadings ... a "spinning date meter" in the upper corner of the screen highlights the passage of time since the U.S. invasion began ... the date meter comes to a grinding halt on 11/02/2004 (election day).

Announcer: does this look like an exit strategy to you? clearly, it's time for change ...

1. My hubby just suggested the same thing. He could have a bunch about
all the things he lied about in 2000. He lies about lying.

4. interesting ...
we just had a similar discussion about whether this particular ad should focus more on bush's credibility or more on his failed policy in Iraq ... we decided, at least for this ad, to keep the focus on Iraq rather than on bush's endless stream of lies ...

making a separate ad that either shows him flip-flopping, this is saying one thing one day and something else the next, or outright lying is a great idea ... go for it !!

3. Great but I'd leave out the gory stuff. Smoking buildings and vehicles ok.
A reptition of that 10/17/00 debate comment should run through the whole piece for impact.

14. well, perhaps not the beheadings ...
maybe we could just show American hostages being held captive ...

scenes of American hostages in Iran were used to destroy Jimmy Carter when he ran against Reagan in 1980 ...

6. The Daily Show "Bush vs Bush" video is a plethora of ad ideas!
http://www.comedycentral.com/mp/play.jhtml?reposid=/multimedia/tds/stewart/jon_7131.html&setplayer=real_media

It's a video of Bush debating himself. It's made up of clips of him in 2000 vs now, showing how he totally FLIP FLOPPED on his positions on virtually everything.

8. what's up in that Kerry forum ??
some of the posts seem to be nothing but a repetition of the base post ... no comments or any other text was added ...

pretty favorable feedback overall though ... I'd love to see this ad on TV ...

9. well it was a newbie who did that
The reason why I wanted to post it there is I liked this persons idea. We have seen ideas used that were posted on Kerry/Edwards board. This way if a adviser or HQ person or even DNC member is there it increases the chance that they will notice it. You never know it is always worth a long shoot.

11. one reason why I like cross-posting
Yep, I liked it. Sorry about the term this person didn't mean to offend. I'm also glad you have a account there too. I've been referring them to a lot of post over here and here to a lot of post over there. One reason why is because we all share the same goal in this election. Plus it helps on keeping track of stories and articles. In a way since Bush doesn't have a forum it pretty much says we are bigger then the Freepers. I wonder if they will be jealous like how Kerry's pen was bigger then Bush's pen.

16. a slideshow of Bush grimaces, eye-rolling, smirks and glares
from the debate then, text with voice-over: George Bush believes he is NEVER wrong. 4 More years of George Bush means 4 more years of the same. John Kerry understands the issues that face us in Iraq and here at home. He offers a brighter, new direction for America. Vote John Kerry for Change in America, at home and abroad.

(get all the subtle references to Bush's dim intellect)

19. hey blm ...
glad you like this ad ... I could probably do more with it but thought it was a good start ...

is Pete still posting on DU? I haven't seen him around for quite awhile ... I also posted this on forum.johnKerry.com but I'm not sure whether he monitors that ...

what's the best way to get in touch with him ???

btw, my own critique of my ad is that Kerry might not use it because I think his message has been more "we need a better plan to win the peace" than "we need a clearly defined exit strategy" ... I still think the two ideas could be compatible if they handle them correctly ...
