Rice: Saddam Posed Nuclear Threat to U.S.

By JENNIFER C. KERR, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - National security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) on Sunday defended her characterization of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s nuclear capabilities in the months before the Iraq (news - web sites) invasion, even as a published report said government experts had cast doubt at the time.

In the run-up to the March 2003 war, Rice said in a television interview in 2002 that the Iraqi president was trying to obtain high-strength aluminum tubes to rebuild his nuclear weapons program. The tubes, she said, were "only really suited for nuclear weapons programs."

On Sunday, Rice acknowledged she was aware of a debate within the U.S. intelligence community about whether the tubes were intended for nuclear weapons. "I knew that there was a dispute. I actually didn't really know the nature of the dispute," Rice told ABC's "This Week" program.

1. I saw the show...
..and she seemed to be uncomfortable. Moreso than usuall. Defensive, and a little scared. At times you could tell she was spinning and lying, and that she knew it. She's not the best liar in the world, and it showed on her face and in her reactions.

12. She's always had a pretty strong tell
from the voice inflection and wavering. Also her eye's are diverting from side to side.

3. Rice publicly admits her gross negligence and incompetence
"...I actually didn't really know the nature of the dispute," Rice told ABC's "This Week" program.

Failing to make herself FULLY aware of the facts is gross negligence and incompetence and a failure in the essential elements of her job. How is this woman earning her salary?

8. When your sole job is
shoveling crap to the unwashed huddling masses, there is no need to clutter your head with facts. It's a fact because they say so. Only now, some people are asking a lot of uncomfortable questions. Like how did you determine that these tubes were for such and such. Then it leaves them stammering for answers. This should have been going on all through this past 3 and a half years, but I'm at least glad to see it happening now.

6.  WOW... Reality! what a concept!
For these people to admit the truth now would be devastating. They have nothing left but to cling to these thin LIES and hope there are enough KOOL-AID drinkers to pull them through. Ba BYE.

7. Rice in denial on Iraq nuke doubts
Democratic Senator Bob Graham accused the White House of deliberately using information it knew to be false to bolster the case for invading Iraq.

"It is an outrage of tremendous proportions, and is not only a statement of the intelligence of this administration, but the fundamental character of this administration that they would so mislead the citizens of the United States and the world."

The blow to White House credibility on foreign policy matters came as the presidential campaign entered a critical 10-day period, with a vice-presidential faceoff and two more scheduled debates between Mr Bush and Sen Kerry.

Sen Kerry's strong performance in last week's debate with Mr Bush on international affairs, combined with weekend polls showing Sen Kerry had a slim advantage over Mr Bush after trailing him for months, have reinvigorated the Democrat's bid for office.

9. What is she thinking?
How could Iraq pose a threat? I don't get it. If Iraq poses a threat so does feckin Chile or Mexico. Let's ignore N. Korea, Iran, Pakistan if Musharraff ever goes down, India, China, Russia, etc...

WTF?

These people are completely lost.

The jig is up and they still do not see it.

Let them keep spouting this crap and the Kerry flip flop message.

Americans are seeing that this is total BS and are getting sick of this attack (when they see that its not true) and will vote against Bush on 11/2.

13. She knew but she didn't actually know-lack of curiosity or professionalism
Somewhere down in the BOWELS of the National Security apparatus or maybe just down the hall sitting on her desk--there may be other pending information which might prevent the US from engaging in an ill advised invasion--but Dr. Condi probably doesn't know the nature of the not so rosey colored memos.

Condi looks and sounds so innocent, doesn't she?
