How are things looking for the Edwards-Cheney debate Tuesday
Any media buzz?

Any news from the campaign?

Any idea how many people will watch?

I think the timing couldn't possibly be better. After Thursday, Kerry can rest in the corner and get ready for #2, while Edwards, who is ever strong and energetic, takes it to Cheney.

Weird that I'm nervous as hell when it comes to Kerry and these things (maybe just because a lot more rides on them), but I'm totally confident with Edwards. Maybe I ought to temper it a bit.

1. Exploding Heart Valve
If the Commander in Chimp couldn't control his temper in the debate with Kerry, I'm sure the apoplectic Cheney will lose it altogether. Look to see if his leaky heart valve suddenly pops when Edwards brings up the subject of Cheney's profits from Halliburton in Iraq. Wouldn't that be a pleasant sight?

3. Said Cheney has been preparing since Aug
and they weren't sure about Edwards how long but are practicing with mock people. Heard that on MSNBC.

9. Agreed, agreed agreed! I hope he's not getting overconfident
and is training properly.

The Bush regime handlers aren't stupid. Edwards has to work hard and not take it easy. If he can keep the ball rolling and hit Cheney hard, we're gonna be in good shape.

6. Cheney is smarter than the Chimp which makes him more dangerous
but Edwards is smart and charming and he will have Dick muttering "Cheneys" under his breath from start to finish.

11. Agreed. Cheney is smarter than *. But Edwards argues publicly
for a living, so I doubt he can be seriously harmed in a debate with anybody.

7. John Edwards will strip Cheney down to the stents in his arteries.
He didn't become one of the nation's most celebrated trial lawyers by being stupid.Remember that despite all his bloated CEO pretensions, Cheney is a dropout, draft dodger, has manipulated stock prices worse than Martha ever did and has used the revolving door between Governement and Industry to enrich himself without ever being worthy of it. While he gave himself a nice golden parachute after leaving Halliburton, he did not feel it necessary to give pension benefits to the employees of Dresser which went bankrupt because of Cheney's acquisition of the company for Halliburton. If there is a scale for fraudulent enrichment, Cheney indd3ed would be the elephant and Bush would be the chimp.I hope John Edwards deconstructs the Cheney myth thoroughly as only he is capable of doing. I can't wait.

8. Yeah, but what about the way Cheney kinda tilts his head from side to side
sucks his teeth and says "uhh".

That's a KILLER combination! I don't know if Edwards can compete with that

13. Is it a sit down debate?
IMO the best debate performance he gave was at the final sit down debate during the primaries.

14. Did anyone see the 30 minute MSNBC feature on Edwards?
after one of his trials, someone said to one of the jurors, "well, you just had the opportunity to watch one of the best trial lawyers anywhere." When the juror responded, "which one?" he said, "Edwards." The juror replied, "Oh, him...I thought he was just one of us."

16. the main test
the main test in this debate will be whether Edwards can convince the American people that he's ready to "step into the Presidency" should it become necessary ... that's it !!

it's not just about being personable although that obviously helps ... and it's not just about being knowledgeable on the issues ... the test isn't about whether Edwards would make a good VP; it's about whether he'd make a good P ...

in many ways, there is more importance in this debate than in the Kerry-bush debate on appearing "Presidential" ...

also, unlike the first debate, Edwards is a natural target for post-debate spin ... they are going to try to paint him as a slick talking lawyer ... the better he does, the more details they add to their painting ... controlling the post-debate spin will be critical ...

if Edwards shows the same command of the issues and self-confidence that Kerry showed, he'll be tough to spin against ... there's not much you can say when your fighter gets knocked out ...
