Scorecard: Is Saddam guilty of anything Bush ISN'T Guilty of?
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 08:50 PM by Must_B_Free
Just wondering...
Saddam illegally attacked another nation - so did Bush
Saddam is responsible for thousands of deaths - so is Bush
Saddam had torture prisons running under his watch - so did Bush - both in Texas and Iraq.

And on the flip side,
Saddam united three cultures under one secular government - Bush is trying to unsecularize his government
Saddam implemented tremendous social programs including literacy - Bush refuses to properly fund education
Saddam implemented western law - Bush refuses to abide by it
Saddam writes poetry - Bush can't form sentences

So since he had no WMDs as he stated, and he made nearly every effort to avoid war, should he get his country back?

Is Saddam the only one who can bring it back together and stave off civil war?

(supposed to be in GD)

2. Deciding to go to war is a failure of leadership in itself
Leaders at the most base function are supposed to avoid was if at all possible. Choosing war is a failure of leadership. All governments should agree that a decision to use aggression automatically deposes you as a leader. It's an admission of failure and incompetence.

That's been his MO for several decades.... why change in the middle of a lifetime? I imagine he will be tried for warcrimes before this is all over.

3. I hate to be the Devil's advocate, but...
Is Saddam the only one who can bring it back together and stave off civil war?

Yes.

Either that, or an anti-American Muslim fundamentalist.

The Iraqi people better choose the free a dictator or bring up an anti-American government, something that Osama bin Laden, Saddam's ENEMY, not ally, would like to have.

It's a double-edged sword, but Iraq is not better with some scumbag in Washington (George W. Bush) controlling the Iraqi people's lives. The US brought nothing but turmoil and chaos to this nation and I don't think American-style democracy is the solution.

Man, I hate to be the Devil's advocate, but we found so far absolutely NO solution to this quagmire.
