Sign of the Times: Political sign theft in (fascist) Lancaster County, PA
http://www.lancasteronline.com/pages/news/local/4/8691

(VERY simple registration for this newspaper's site)

(Lancaster County is uber-conservative, just FYI)

snip:

"... Partisans across the county, on both sides of the political divide, are complaining bitterly about a rash of stolen yard signs. It’s probably no worse than what occurs in most campaigns, although the debate is amplified this year by an increasingly polarized electorate.

"... Because the campaign finance reform act limits the amount of money that local party committees can spend on federal candidates, Republican leaders are faced with a mountain of paperwork and restrictions on how they get campaign materials like signs.

"... Democrats aren’t as affected by sign shortages, but the party is equally burdened by needing to account for every penny of spending on presidential, U.S. Senate and congressional campaigns. ...On the Democrats’ side, the problem may be more noticeable; there are more Democrat signs than usual, meaning more targets, and the signs have been available earlier than usual.

"Many John Kerry supporters, who are asked by the party to donate $3 for each sign, have an investment to defend. ..."
