Bush lead is disappearing, Waterloo looms
This site has a bunch of polls summarized in one place:

http://www.pollingreport.com/wh2004.htm

Looks like Bush's lead is a couple of points at best, and shrinking.

The debates could be his Waterloo.

1. OH, how I hope you're right, but I fear the press ho' spin.
They will say Bush won the debates, no matter what happens.

3. Of course they will...
... but even though 90% of the media has been licking Bush*'s backside for 2 years, he is not ahead in the polls.

Wanna know my theory why? I thought you'd never ask. :)

The longer the press keeps up this totally obvious lack of objectivity about Bush*, the more people simply dismiss every thing they say.

A lot of people are going to watch the debates. If they see Kerry kick the shrubs hummingbird ass all over the place, and then hear all the pundits and talking head blather about how great Bush did, what do you think will happen? They will go "oh, I must be wrong these people say Bush* won". NOT. You just get more and more people who realize that the "news" and "information" you get on TV is unadulterated SHIT just like the commercials.

Sure, there will be some who don't watch the debates, and only hear the "news" and "ANALysis". But there is reason to believe that there are a lot of people struggling to make a decision. They know this race is important and they are just trying to find a reason to vote for either candidate. They'll be watching.

I say "bring it on". :)

"The longer the press keeps up this totally obvious lack of objectivity about Bush*, the more people simply dismiss every thing they say."

The press coverage is so obviously One-Sided a Backlash is imminent.

5. The Debates will only help Kerry
As long as Kerry speaks forcefully and clearly he should get a boost from the debates, particularly the first one. In the last 2 months, as we all have been sad witness to, the Bush Smear Machine with the media’s complicity have totally drowned out Kerry's message with lies and misrepresentations. In the covered sound bite war Shrub is winning.

So, I find it very uplifting that after months of overwhelming withering attacks on Kerry from Smirk's Goon Squad, Kerry is STILL within striking distance of taking the lead in most polls. Imagine That! This demonstratively shows that most Americans have strong reservations about Smirk...for Good Reason. I believe millions of Americans currently uncommitted to either candidate are looking for reasons to vote for Kerry.

And a Strong debate performance by Kerry will seal the deal. It's Kerry's chance to get his ideas, and issues out before the public without it getting cut to pieces by media hacks.

Mr. Kerry Pop that Bubble around Smirk and expose him for the clueless man-boy he is.

12. Get yer butt down to ACT, MoveOn, the local Dem HQ, et cet.
Not tomorrow, TODAY, and volunteer!

ANd if you don't feel like volunteering, then at least pester your Dem friends, family, and coworkers several times a week, REMINDING PEOPLE TO GET TO THE POLLS.

This, historically, been our greatest weakness.

4. Bush's keepers are helping him..
memorize pithy one liners as we talk. You know, the empty pap that the public seems to eat up so readily (see, them is terrists, wanted dead 'r'live", etc....). If Bush executes even 30% of these stupid jingos without royaly fucking up, then he will be pronounced the 'candidate who connects with the common schmuck" or some such and be declared victor.

It's THAT simple.

6. I don't get it
If Bush's poll numbers are going down, why don't they just include more Republicans in their polling? They are sure to go back up then.

;)

10. But, but . . .
AP ran a story yesterday saying that more people are now identifying themselves as Republicans. How can they not be right?

(OK -- enough sarcasm from me for one evening)

11. In fact, why don't they poll republicans only?
Although even some republicans have smartened up. :)
