there are constant posts here about republican supporters assaulting dems who speak out in similar fashion. i am as disgusted with our behavior when it turns bad as the republicans'. that doesn't mean that i think that candidates should be shouted down at every campaign stop, however. it would be nice to see this country actually have political discourse without violence.

a few weeks ago at a kerry rally, a man was wrestled to the ground by kerry supporters after heckling the senator. i would have preferred to see him be allowed to voice his opinion and have those concerns addressed by kerry immediately rather than simply shut up and dragged away from the appearance. those are bush tactics. let's stand up and show that we have the ability to respond to criticism rather than just supressing conflicting viewpoints.

is this guy an attention seeker? absolutely. does he exploit his children in the desire to get attention? absolutely. let's just start handling this differently.
