A little info regarding Virginia Governor's Races......
1977 - Carter in office.....GOP Gov

1981 - St. Ronnie in office....Dem Gov

1985 - St. Ronnie in office....Dem Gov

1989 - Bush the First in office......Dem Gov

1993 - Clinton in office.....GOP Gov

1997 - Clinton in office.....GOP Gov

2001 - Bush II in office....Dem Gov

2005 - Bush II in office....Dem Gov

2009 - Obama in office.....Well, why screw up the pattern now?

1. I've been saying it for a long, long time now, but Deeds was an awful candidate.
I know people around here hate him, but we'd have been much better off with McAuliffe.

Deeds was an awful candidate, probably would have made a fine Governor........

Who were the candidates in each election?

Was the Democratic candidate better than the Republican in every case?

What were the factors in each election?

What was the economy at the time?

I think Virginia voters have got to be more sophisticated than just voting for the candidate that is from the opposite party of the President.

6. My guess is that Virginia Gov races take place in odd number years, thus no Congressional seats up
for grabs and that might bring out the disaffected in greater numbers just to show their displeasure over the preceding years' Presidential Election.

Anyway, that's my guess.
