You dumb bastards
Ok, I've been saying this since, oh February but certain posters in this forum prefer to brand me as a traitor than to listen to what I am saying. The perception is bad...BAD. Some of us prefer to live in our little bubble world where the President is perfect and can do no wrong. Sorry folks AllentownJake lives in the real world and I knew something like this would happen from the day the President decided to slap some of his biggest supporters in the face with Rick Warren at the Inaguration. Slap in the face after slap in the face to the base and you people wonder why a Reagan conservative is now going to be in the Governor's mansion of New Jersey.

So we have one year to prevent a blood bath in the 2010 midterms.

Incidently, if it wasn't for some very strong city support my county almost lost the most capable County Executive in recent history to a Tea Bagger.

BTW for those who are about to jump on me, I was out working for the Democratic Party today, What the Fuck were you doing?

And you follow that up by hurling insults and basically saying "Everyone sucks but me!!!" again and again and again. Now you complain that nobody is taking you seriously. What kind of reply did you think you were going to get with this post?

Look, I understand being upset. But rants like this really don't help matters. You lose people at the subject line and it just gets worse from there. I think you have a valid point buried in your post (the Dems need to be sure to organize for 2010). I just don't think you chose the best way to express it.

5. I get more worried by the day about 2010
There are too many Democrats who accept (if not actually desire) our party enacting "safe" "right leaning middle of the road" policies heading into next year.

The electorate didnt vote for "safe" when they elected a Dem majority in both Houses, and "safe" was the last thing on their minds when they elected a Black man the MSM labeled as a diehard liberal for President.

Sure safe works out great for the corporations, but the electorate wanted a solid change from business as usual, and it seems our party has no intentions of giving them what they voted for.

Because you were out working for the Democratic Party?

Your working for the party makes your opinion more valid?

Get over yourself, AJ. I know you're passionate, but don't be absurd.

OK?

Talk to me when your 80+ year old parents are in separate hospitals with a shit for brains health care system trying to kill them.

Since February, you have been shitting on this President basically nonstop! Considering that the Right is already doing this, it is precisely because there are so many doing it (it's the "IN" thing) including on the Left that the young folks and the minorities stayed their asses at home.....
It's their way of saying FUCK YOU to both political parties....after all, it isn't only the Right criticizing this President 24/7 day and night....the Left is doing it as well.

The negative feedback on each and every move Obama makes is turning folks off (who were fired up and ready to go and now are just tired of the flames) from politics (hell, I'm even turned off!).....because they aren't stupid, and even they understand that they didn't vote for a pony on November 5th, 2008!

I'm coming to DU less and less, not writing to the media much and watching hardly any "news" shows....cause I see that the only thing y'all can do is cry and shit about everything. He was a very intense Obama supporter during the primaries. I was on the other side. But by mid June nearly all of us at DU were on the same page.

I believe that none of the election results today are indicative of 2010. Weird and crazy circumstances in all. (Except VA... Should have nominated somebody that had a chance of winning state-wide. Deeds lost his race for AG in 2005 when Kaine won at the top of the ticket by nearly 6%)

14. I wonder why that vote in Maine...the whole states decide on civil rights strategies...
isn't being hailed as some masterful chess move?

27. He has said that an issue of civil rights should be left up to the states.
Didn't know or don't care, Charlie?

At least read the gospels. The Christians do.

35. Uh...
what are you talking about? The loss of two governorships? Are you serious? And you think that has something to do with something that Obama did in the presidential election?

We are up two in the House, one of whom was elected in a very Republican district...gay rights are on the way to be affirmed byu the voters of WA state...sorry, but your theory is absurd.

36. Booze and Blogging don't mix but....
Jake's got a very good point here. It's true Corzine and Deeds were both lousy candidates, but Democratic turnout was terrible! The fact is we'll lose ANYTIME we're lazy. Say what you want about the Republicans, but they SHOW UP!

Jake, thanks for your hard work, we can all learn from your example, regardless of our usually minor differences.

39. WTF?
So Corzine lost because NJ Progressives wanted to teach the President a lesson?

Maybe this is coded so that only "thinking people" understand what point you're trying to make. I'm not sure why this post is over here since you once claimed that GD: P was the implicit bastion of the Obama "cheerleaders".

40. Sorry, but the governor of NJ has nothing to do with Obama.
It has a lot to do with Corzine and cyclical politics. Corzine was governor for at least 2 full terms already.

42. Yo! We just INCREASED our majority in Congress by TWO more seats!
Governorships are about local issues. We won where it counted.

Trust me, you know those guys in Jersey - they will hate their new governor before he even takes office. He's doomed.

And you can tell them "told ya so" from next door in PA - where, I understand, the Dem party cleaned up nicely statewide today.

Thanks for doing your part! :toast:

43. I feel you that we likely have a base election coming and people need a reason to be motivated
but Corizine has flaws that have nothing to do with Obama and you know this. Come on man this kat spent in the hundreds of millions and couldn't beat a total crapwad mostly I believe because voters are super stupid about taxes and economic realities. He made tough calls that aren't easy to sell because above all else Americans despise sacrifice and big picture thinking.

The blame Obama at every turn is a cop out. What kind of brainless fools would sit on their hands in their own governor's race over Rick Warren dude? You know good and well that has nothing or nearly nothing to do with this race and I can't possibly connect Obama to an apparently extremely competent Executive.

If our "base" is that addle brained and rubberkneed then we have zero percent chance anyway. Anyone that is in the frame of mind of fuck it let the nutters have the wheel again is beyond worthless and would be pretty close there to even under ideal circumstances. You can't be the "base" and fall of at this level of obstacle. Base means base not a bunch of fairweathers that call it quits in the 1st quarter of a game that we lead in despite the score being tighter than expected.

I don't call you a traitor and never have but you are damn near hyperventilating through the screen. Everyone has to be much tougher in the face of adversity. We haven't even hit the hard stretch yet.

And the populace at large don't like what they saw Congress do for the past 9 or 10 months. They no it's the same old garbage, the same sham.

As somebody up topic said:

"Sure safe works out great for the corporations, but the electorate wanted a solid change from business as usual, and it seems our party has no intentions of giving them what they voted for."

I helped vote down putting a manager in charge of the town of Terryville instead of the mayor, Vin Festa. Ick, I don't want a town manager.
Anyway, here are some local races: http://www.ct.gov/sots/lib/sots/electionservices/electi...

Just my opinion, of course. Some Dems deserve to lose...Harry Reid anyone?
I went out and voted and took my two daughters with me though they are only 4 and 5. Never too young to teach about being responsible for what goes on in their town and learning to vote though.

There is understandable passion after this "mini"-Tuesday election, the dust needs to settle a little before we can actually figure out what this all comes to.
