Of course it does ....... there's a crap load of reporters around just waiting to report something newsworthy.

Here's your sweet story of the day...

It is White House tradition that when a tree dies on the grounds, the president attends the planting ceremony for the new one. That's what President Obama was doing Wednesday afternoon, at an event marking the replacement of the tree that died on the North Lawn earlier this year.

A new tree has already been planted, but the president planned to shovel some dirt on it for good measure.

A large portion of the WH trees were planted by Andrew Jackson in memory of his wife Rachel who died just before they would have moved to Washington. Jackson obviously did a lot of evil things, but he's a distant relative of mine and, living in TN he is this state's favorite President. My degree is in historic preservation, and I've done some work at the Jackson home in Nashville. So I always smile when I hear of those trees.

Especially given the fact that Jackson did a lot of things out of hatred toward others and since this may very well have been one of Jackson's trees, if I were the President, I would have planted the new one in honor of Matthew.
