WASHINGTON -- First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden will attend the opening game of the World Series at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night, the Daily News has learned.

They will participate in pre-game ceremonies honoring military veterans, said Camille Johnston, the First Lady's communications director.

They will also visit patients at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, along with members of the Yankees and Major League Baseball.

The game is dedicated to a group called WelcomeBackVeterans.org, an organization that raises awareness and money to support veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.

.... that said how poorly the Phillies do in the World Series with a Dem in the White House.

I suddenly had this vision of Joe and Jill trying to lobby the President to change parties for a few weeks. :)

a dome.

8. It's supposed to clear up by 7PM
and the stadium doesn't need a dome. It actually doesn't rain here that much.

7. I'm going
And Jill Biden better not show up in a Phillies hat. The stadium would go wild.

9. You lucky duck. I have yet to catch a game in the new stadium.
My Dad has taken me to games at the old one since I was 12 and I am almost 34 now. It is a family tradition. Have fun tonight!

10. I miss/missed the old stadium.
I still don't understand why it needed to be replaced. That said... the new building is great. It's spacious and almost luxurious. You can walk all the way around the new building which you couldn't do at the old one. There's lots of great food choices. The bathrooms don't smell too bad yet. :D There's some nice restaurants. It's just nice. Hopefully you'll make it out next season. Go early and look around. Thanks!!!

11. Yeah, I was kind of sad about them leaving with all the history there
but it does sound like a really nice stadium.

12. I hope the rain stops
in time for the pre-game ceremonies for this very worthy cause honoring the military veterans.
