NJ-Gov: Second Poll Has Corzine Nosing Ahead; SSP Moves to "Tossup"
Democracy Corps (D) (10/6-7, likely voters, 9/22-23 in parens):

Jon Corzine (D-inc): 41 (39)
Chris Christie (R): 38 (40)
Chris Daggett (I): 14 (11)
Undecided: 7 (9)
(MoE: ±4%)

That's the second poll this week which has shown Jon Corzine with the slimmest of leads. And, as happened on Tuesday, there's also another poll alongside this one showing Corzine just behind.

SurveyUSA (10/5-7, likely voters, no trendlines):

Jon Corzine (D-inc): 40
Chris Christie (R): 43
Chris Daggett (I): 14
Undecided: 2
(MoE: ±4%)

1. Christie is toast
Challengers don't peak in the summer and then come back from behind to win in the fall. Either they stay consistently ahead of the incumbent or it's close and they pull it out in the end. I know I'm getting a bit ahead here but I predict Corzine wins by at least 8.

2. I rallied outside the Lt Gov debate last night
Yes We Can 2.0 was hosting the Democrats, and in a largely Republican county (purple in presidential elections, in the state offices we're all red but hoping to change that in November) the Democrats outnumbered the Republicans about 3-1. Governor Corzine and Congressman Frank Pallone greeted the supporters last night as they entered.

3. I live in NJ
I've been very lukewarm with clowns to the left of me and jokers to the right . . .

But I can't risk a Republican in office. Seriously, I was just going to sit it out. Now, my social circle is exclusively Dems who have felt the same way.

I.E. August: Naaaaaah not gonna vote. State is corrupt - doesn't matter.

Very different story in October. Yeah - I'm going to show up and press the button for Corzine. It's the lesser of less corrupt - but I can't risk a Rep in office that would actually turn down stimulus money. The very idea when you look at how much NJ puts in vs. how much we get back - Yikes!

I think what you are seeing is Dems who are complacent because we have Dem WH, HOR and Senate not willing to risk not having a non-Dem gov in NJ getting set to go up and vote for Corzine.

Again, posting this as a Democratic Party member who was invited to the State Convention but had better things to do. My friends/circle are Dems. I'm telling you - the complacency of the summer: This state is Corrupt Regardless of the Person who is in office has given away to: VA might have turned tail and candy-assed out but NJ won't. ;-)
