Conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh appear to be overjoyed and positively ecstatic at the International Olympic Committee's rejection of Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics, even going so far as to label this a resounding "failure" for President Obama if not some kind of repudiation by the the rest of the world. I won't re-print it here or even quote it (but you're welcome to visit the link if you think you can stomach it. It's REALLY bad) but here's Rush Limbaugh's "take" on it: <
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_100209/content/01125106.guest.html> Limbaugh actually wants us to believe that the rejection of Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics calls President Obama's persuasive abilities into question, particularly in regards to dealing with Iran and it's nuclear program. Ummmm........okay....whatever. :eyes: I guess the other countries who lost their bid have been similarly damaged in terms of their ability to respond to countries like Iran? Aside from the fact conservative wingnuts like Limbaugh already had been negatively spinning President Obama's involvement in advocating for Chicago to be chosen to host the 2016 Olympics in the first place and would have spun a victory for Chicago (or even a defeat for Chicago without his involvement) as a negative for President Obama as well, I simply didn't realize that his entire Presidency and the credibility thereof was hinging solely on Chicago being picked to host the Olympics in 2016. Anyway, why would anybody NOT want IOC to pick Chicago (or anywhere else in the US for that matter) other than, I guess, to be able for people like Limbaugh to gloat at seeing President Obama "fail" at something- as though there was SOMETHING he could've done or said different that might've changed the committee's minds. I guess Limbaugh and his ilk must not like the job opportunities and prestige that would've came with the selection of a major US city to host the 2016 Olympics? Barack Obama is President of the United States of America NOT "King of the World", much less a living "God". This whole talk about the IOC's rejection of Chicago being some kind of "referendum" of how the world thinks of President Obama is, frankly, stupid, although, unfortunately, understandable when talking about the spokesman for the Republican Party, "El Rushbo".
