Check out the results of the recent
ABC/WP poll:
"A total of 1,202 randomly selected adults, including 952 self-described registered voters and 788 likely voters were interviewed by telephone Sept. 6-8."That means 79% voter registration among the adults they polled.
The Census in 2002 reported
60.9% of the voting age population were registered voters.
Look at which people were lying in a recent
WSJ/NBC poll - one of the questions asked was how the participant voted in 2000:
45% Voted for George W. Bush
33% Voted for Al Gore
In the 2000 Presidential Election, 67% of registered voters cast a vote, and Bush got about 48% and Gore got 48%. So you would expect about 32% of the people taking the WSJ/NBC poll to have voted for Bush and 32% for Gore.
Unless the Bush campaign can turn all these liars into registered voters who actually show up at the polls, Bush is toast.
