DeMint: Obama ‘Puts Our Troops At Risk’ By Working On Health Reform

DEMINT: The problem is, the war in Afghanistan and our economy are our two biggest issues. But he’s working on other issues such as health care and he’s putting off the decision on Afghanistan which I think puts our troops at risk. So he needs to focus on priorities right now and not try to ram so many things down our throat here in Congress. He needs to address the issue of Afghanistan quickly.

On edit: Guess DeMint isn't concerned with the tens of thousands of Americans whose lives are at risk every year in this health care system.

GOP Senator Jim DeMint on a conference call, saying that if Republicans and conservatives stop Obama on health care reform, it will “break him” and be Obama’s “Waterloo”

Oh, and guess what great state that garbage pile is from.

4. Concentrated stupid.
Oh, I see, too many things getting 'rammed down the throats of Congress' (got that talking point jammed in there, nicely), but hurry up and make a hasty decision on Afghanistan?

The stupidity of these people is astounding.

I am glad that every single day, the ignorant racist old guard is dying, one by one, and with it, the Republic party.

16. New Republicanism Can Not Stand
Edited on Wed Sep-23-09 10:16 PM by JMMendez1989
I been doing a lot of political history and I'm actually finding some incredible things. The Republican Parties and Democrat Parties of 1890's - 1960's were the same with little differences here and there. Republicans were the former middle class fighters. Democrats needed to start winning and the working Democrats took over around the 1890's.

Both parties were basically the same. Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Nixon, and Ford were all Center/Center-Left Republicans. Calvin Coolidge is more Moderate. He did cut taxes, but he made up with it by taxing in other ares like the estate tax and gift tax. It was the conservatives that made the switch permanent. Do some research and you'll be shock at the hidden progressive elements of Coolidge's Presidency. Not to mention he couldn't stand Hoover being his successor.

Since the 1960's the Republican Party has been slowly dying by thinking they were successful. Obama could be the killer of the party (and no not literally :p). Statements like these remind me why I just became a Progressive Democrat and proud of it now. Look at back at history. When Progressives are in the White House, no matter what party, the United States prospers in every area.

Army Lt. Col. Robert Lazzell, who suffered a back injury in Iraq, described the red tape he encountered over the past year at Walter Reed despite being higher ranking than most patients at the hospital. "It really upsets me," Lazzell said. "If I'm hitting stonewalls, I know darn well they are."

"There's just endless paperwork," said Cathy Lazzell, his wife. "Sometimes you feel like giving up."

Lorraine Cousens, 77, whose grandson, a Marine, was severely injured by a bomb and who remains unable to walk, is grateful for his ongoing medical treatment but is "concerned and frightened" because a hospital official has suggested to her that there are not enough beds for him to stay much longer. "I was made to feel a little pressure," she said.

The government, Cousens said, needs to spend more money on military hospitals. "The Marines, the Army, the Air Force, they're fighting a war," she said. "The rest of the country is shopping at malls."

18. How many DUers here are from SC?
Because I'd really like you all to write him a letter and remind him that 45,000 American citizens die every year because they cannot afford adequate health care.

And if anybody can provide the figures for how many of those Americans might be from South Carolina, would you include those as well?

Thanks, guys. I really, truly appreciate it.
