2. Good for Joe
I say kudos to Joe for being one of the few Republicans to call out Beck. Not only does he call him out, he outright mocks him. I also appreciate it when Joe spoke out against the school speech hoopla and death panels. Of course, he always qualifies his criticisms by saying that the Left does the same thing or worse...but still, he is willing to go against the party line on some issues, which is very rare these days.

49. Listen to his radio show.
He is as bad as Beck on the radio and admits that he has to be more moderate on MSNBC. And since he's on the same network as Rush, he'll never call out Rush the way he did Beck. The guy is a hypocrite.

25. I know the damn story and there was NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY!
We can't sit around and complain about the other side pushing unfounded conspiracy theories like when they tried to say the Clinton's murdered someone or that Obama wasn't born in America and all that shit if we are going to do the EXACT SAME THING and that is, give credence to unfounded rumors that have no merited evidence to back them up at all.

26. Actually, the Clinton "murder list" started life as the Reagan/Bush murder list.

The two largest groups of aledged murders on the list concerned the DOJ "stealing" the ANSLAW software and the CIA smuggling drugs; both when Reagan was president. Back then leftwing conspiracy theorists composed a list because:

1. a bunch of men in their 60s and 70s dying of natural causes was suspicious, and
2. we all know that drug dealers would never kill one another if the CIA weren't involved, right?

Once Clinton was in office, rightwing conspiracy theorists jumped on the fact that the CIA smuggling operation was based in an Arkansas airport to link it to Clinton. They left the rest in there figuring 99.44% of the readers would never stop to wonder what ANSLAW was. And, of course, proceeded to add Clinton related nonsense.

So, really, the lunatics on our side started that idiocy. They just don't have as large an audience for their wackiness.

36. not exactly true
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 02:39 PM by noiretextatique
the medical examiner was a quack who lost his license in missouri and despite scarbourgh's claims, lori had no history of medical problems. given that reality, it's hard to buy that she got a 7 inch gash in her head by hitting it on a desk after suffering a heart attack at 28 years old. the case is troubling, to say the least. it's nothing like the ridiculous birther, deather, teabagger claims.

48. Thats fine, my whole point is to call people out for accusing Joe S. of being a murderer.
I don't care what people think about the case itself. We just shouldn't go around accusing someone of something horrible like that, regardless of how we feel about said person's political positions.

41. Yes, troubling...
And I think Joe will not run for office again because this would all become a hot issue again. But even if one were to take the extra leap of logic to conclude that she was murdered, that does not in any way prove or establish who murdered her, regardless of where her body was found. The burden of proof is much higher than that, for damn good reasonss in my opinion. So any flat assertion that Joe S. is a murderer is gossip of the worst order; the Rush Limbaugh school of truth in journalism.

I'm talking to you, Mitt Romney and anybody that wants to be president. You call out this hatred. You cannot preach hatred. It can have DEADLY consequences. I was in Congress in 1995, I know where this can end.

7. here's what Mika said about beck a few days ago.
Brzezinski said, Well, and I think that obviously a lot of people have different reactions to Glenn Beck, and he has a huge following. I will say that my reaction is one of real concern, and I think it is because I feel like the conservative voice isnt being well represented, and he is tapping into something that may not be so constructive in terms of raising the bar of the conversation and representing the conservative voice in an elegant way.

So, later on his show, Beck mocked Mika and her name (Disney cartoon caracter) and then screamed, "Just shut the HELL up. Shut the hell up!"
Since then, the war is on.

Scar called on an "Honor Roll" of conservatives to do it...starting with Romney.

I guess the pundits can have fun hoping for the circus that would occur if Palin were the nominee in 2012. More likely, after the earth has been scorched during the Republican primary it'll be Mitt still standing instead of the religious wing's darlings (Huckabee and Palin).

28. Peter Wehner column Joe S. referenced
Unlike others associated with Time magazine, David von Drehle is a skilled, careful, and perceptive writer. So I was interested in his cover story on FOX Newss Glenn Beck, who is considered to be a red-hot commodity these days.

I dont pretend to be an expert on Beck. In the past I assumed he was a typical figure in the pundit and cable-media world. Only recently have I watched portions of his television program, as well as interviews with him, and heard parts of his radio program. And what Ive seen should worry the conservative movement.

I say that because he seems to be more of a populist and libertarian than a conservative, more of a Perotista than a Reaganite. His interest in conspiracy theories is disquieting, as is his admiration for Ron Paul and his charges of American imperialism. (He is now talking about pulling troops out of Afghanistan, South Korea, Germany, and elsewhere.) Some of Becks statementsfor example, that President Obama has a deep-seated hatred for white peopleare quite unfair and not good for the country. His argument that there is very little difference between the two parties is silly, and his contempt for parties in general is anti-Burkean (Burke himself was a great champion of political parties). And then there is his sometimes bizarre behavior, from tearing up to screaming at his callers. Beck seems to be a roiling mix of fear, resentment, and angerthe antithesis of Ronald Reagan.

I understand that a political movement is a mansion with many rooms; the people who occupy them are involved in intellectual and policy work, in politics, and in polemics. Different people take on different roles. And certainly some of the things Beck has done on his program are fine and appropriate. But the role Glenn Beck is playing is harmful in its totality. My hunch is that he is a comet blazing across the media sky right nowand will soon flame out. Whether he does or not, he isnt the face or disposition that should represent modern-day conservatism. At a time when we should aim for intellectual depth, for tough-minded and reasoned arguments, for good cheer and calm purpose, rather than erratic behavior, he is not the kind of figure conservatives should embrace or cheer on.

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/wehne...

Good for Wehner & Joe S for calling out this lunancy. And I feel the same as Wehner that Beck is going to soon flame out. At least I hope so. I don't see him having the staying power of Limbaugh or Hannity.

Pick a host on a competing network to start a feud with and "hopefully" create a back and forth the viewers will tune in to see.

Truthfully, it sounds like Beck threw the first groin punch by going after Mika vs. Joe so I'll support anything Joe, Mika and the Muppets (Buchanan and Barnicle) do as far as verbal blowback is concerned.
