Camilla Paglia joins the ranks of the birthers.
I've always loathed her.

Camille Paglia Provides Much-Needed Intellectual Cred for Birthers
By Roy Edroso in Featured, PoliticsThursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 10:20AM And you thought birtherism was just for hillbillies and Republicans! David Weigel heard Camille Paglia on NPR yesterday, where the author of Sexual Personae and UArts professor told a no doubt astonished latte-drinking audience that "there are legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate. I'm sorry, I've been following this closely from the start." Indeed she has; we noticed her railing on the topic as far back as November ("simple questions about the certificate were never resolved to my satisfaction"). Now that they've got a genuine intellectual on board, the birthers just need a popular entertainer to carry their message to the sheeple. Come on, Toby Keith, what are you waiting for?

She has about as much credibility as a sloth. I'd like to completely embarrass herself with the list of "legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate".

That would be comic gold and perhaps then the University Of The Arts could just tell her to get a gig at a crack house in Camden.

She is a self-professed liberal and intellectual.

But in fact, she is NOT a liberal and NOT an intellectual.

No "intellectual" could listen to a steady stream of right wing radio and find it refreshing, lively and reflective of mainstream thought.

The woman is ridiculous and Salon.com is WRONG to give her a forum.

Here is what she said about Sarah Palin...just found this on google:

We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling...That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails... Good Lord, we had barely 12 hours of Democrat optimism ... It was a stunningly timed piece of PR by the Republicans.http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_amer...

44. If someone votes for a person just because they are a woman and not because they stand for women.
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 04:59 PM by YOY
Doesn't mean that they are necessarily a feminist.

Now, if the person who they vote for is a woman and stands against women's rights??? That person is not even close to being a feminist. They're basically dumber than boxes of hammers or advertising for those who can be swayed by arguments from people who are dumber than boxes of hammers.

Speaking of Box of Hammers...just what happened to that dumb ass Palin anyways? Oh yeah...currupt as they get.

Founding feminist? She's not fit to lick the ashes of Gloria Steinem's bra.

She's always dropping little turds like this to get her name in print. She gave up her intellectual cred a long time ago in order to be a celebrity.

She needs to go back to her Madonna obsession - it was tedious, stupid and juvenile but at least it wasn't insane.

57. Paglia had a good run with Madonna, but Madonna's passe.
Paglia needs something new, and her ideal subject is something superficially piquant but fundamentally inane. I suggest she write a fat tome, WILF: The Rise of the Hawt Con: Palin, Bachmann, Coulter, & Malkin. (The W is for "Wingnut.") That's something she could get enthusiastic about, and that would appeal to her fans.

46. From Wikipedia:
Molly Ivins wrote a scathing review of Sexual Personae in which she accused Paglia of historical inaccuracy, demagoguery of second-wave feminists, egocentrism, and writing in sweeping generalizations.

Ivins concluded her review with this passage: "There is one area in which I think Paglia and I would agree that politically correct feminism has produced a noticeable inequity. Nowadays, when a woman behaves in a hysterical and disagreeable fashion, we say, 'Poor dear, it's probably PMS.' Whereas, if a man behaves in a hysterical and disagreeable fashion, we say, 'What an asshole.' Let me leap to correct this unfairness by saying of Paglia, Sheesh, what an asshole."

If she's still at U of Penn, I credit them for their tolerance.
She's the icon of pseudo-high-intellectual faux feminist...
She's more of an 'artiste' than a serious scholar.

She spews word salad a la Palin... probably thinks Palin is
the flavor du jour.. but Paglia has no credibility in
honest academic circles. She was once hot but has lost any
sense of stability.

Paglia fawns over the celebrities: considers Madonna a goddess,
and Clinton was the heir apparent.
She had it in for Obama when he won over Clinton.
