Went to visit my uncle this evening, and we began to connect the dots
Just last month here in Georgia, a white man followed a black woman with a crying child through a WalMart store. He threatened to shut the child up if the woman didn't. The man followed up by slapping the child several times in the face. The baby was less than 2 years old. The man was white and the woman and her child were black.

Last week, also here in Georgia, a large white man viciously attacked and severely beat a black woman. The story is on the Greatest page. While stomping her in the face, he let out a barrage of vicious and hateful names, such as "nigger" and "bitch". The incident happened on Sept. 9 but did not make the news until today.

While driving over to my uncle's, I had radio on the local black radio talk station. I found out that the charges against the scum have been seriously reduced to THREE MISDEMEANORS, and the disgusting pig is now out on bail.

My uncle and I are of the opinion that these are not isolated incidents. We wondered how much and often it is happening elsewhere in the U.S.

It seems the racists have finally snapped out of their shock and are projecting their hate and frustration with Obama onto other blacks - in these instances black women. In the presence of their children even.

And they are acting their hate out.

How soon before someone gets killed?

Maybe I'm overreacting. I sure hope so.

What I am wondering is what happens when the other side fights back?

I wonder if this is what they want.

4. I don't think you are overreacting.
Are you a member of Southern Poverty Law Center? They keep track of racist incidents. If you have connected the dots, maybe you should contact them.

For all I know, they are keeping track of these things already.

There have been far too many incidents all over the country to dismiss your concerns, my concerns, and the concerns of those who have to keep track of threats to Obama.

Also, I remember the success the SPLC has had against Metzger and those stormfront idiots. Maybe it is time that SPLC goes after the right wing haters on television and radio. Maybe they need to target some of the hate websites.

My brother gives quite a bit of money to SPLC. They are in his will. I will mention it to him, too.

I've witnessed hundreds of crazy old white people verbally attack, threaten and abuse Obama and his family -- all in the name of "opposing socialism, marxism, ism-ism," you name it -- and I have the absolute nerve to make the leap that these crazy white men are attacking young black mothers and their children solely because they are monsters. With no catalyst in sight.

I really need to get a clue.

Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 09:58 PM by Indigent
I don't know. There is no connection other than speculating that because some people have been very racist against Obama in the protests, it follows that a man not linked to the protests hit a black woman because Obama is President. Maybe he was racist, period.

Colin Powell just said we should stop seeing everything in black and white. I'd take that advice.

You know, there's a reason why the governor and both senators are republicans.

During the governor's swearing in ceremony, his supporters celebrating by shooting their guns in the air. This is the same guy who dealt with our severe drought by praying for rain. He was a big hit among the faithful. Wer'e talking about people who still don't know they lost the Civil War.

24. I think a whole load of them reached critical mass on one thing:
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 09:19 PM by calimary
Months have gone by and it's finally dawned on them that this whole "there's a black man in the White House and - GASP! - he's NOT the butler!!!!" business actually WASN'T some bad dream they'll be waking up from just any ol' minute now. I think the Obama Administration has gone on just long enough for them to start realizing that, and discovering how much they deep-down hate it. They probably didn't think he'd win, didn't think he'd stay, didn't think he'd live this long, and didn't think he'd even try to get anything accomplished.

It was the recent Maureen Dowd column called "Boy, Oh, Boy" in which the statement was made that "For two centuries, the South has feared a takeover by blacks or the feds. In Obama, they have both."

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/opinion/13dowd.html

She's completely correct. He's here to stay and they're now coming to grips with the fact of that. And they're stuck with him, like it or not. And they DON'T like it, now that they're facing the reality that's finally sunk in through their thick, twisted, shrunken, denial-filled skulls. No, they weren't dreaming. They're wide awake and their worst nightmare is walking across the White House lawn from Marine One AND BEING SALUTED in file footage every night on TV. And it's driving them MAD!!! And they're getting desperate and starting to act out, bigtime.

To me, as a mom, it just looks like one big fat spoiled-brat temper tantrum. Oh, and did somebody say - "SORE LOSERMAN!!!"? That's part of it, too. Just a bunch of spoiled brats who act out when they don't get their way. And because there are no adverse consequences or punishment or impactful derision or shunning or significant public shaming for doing so, they're only encouraged and emboldened to keep doing it, only longer and louder. There's no incentive to back off. Besides, they're REWARDED with many multiples of those "15-minutes of fame" because their ilk is out there on TV every frickin' HOUR. Their bad behavior is being REWARDED.

It's just so upside-down!!!!!!!! Hey, tea-baggers - would you raise your children to act out like this when they don't get their way? Sadly, they probably do. For them it's somehow morphed into some twisted version of "Freedom of Speech" that they're somehow divinely entitled to. It's nothing but spoiled-brat SHITTY behavior to this mom.

34. Well, I'm pretty well convinced this is a big part of it.
This stars-n-bars contingent has hatred of minorities bred deep into its collective bone marrow - over many generations. You don't loosen yourself easily from such bonds, especially those forged with the glue of deep, frenzied, borderline hysterical - AND UNBRIDLED - emotion. It's like throwing gasoline on a fire to stir up the public's emotions about an issue. The more you get them worked up, the easier they are to manipulate because when you're in the midst of apoplexy, the first thing you think about is NOT getting a grip on yourself and thinking objectively or impartially, and growing up a little. And while they're busy working up a good frothing-of-the-mouth, there's NO ONE, not the media, not the critics, not a reasonable one in their own midst, who will stand up and say - HEY GUYS, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DIAL IT BACK! YOU'RE GOING STRAIGHT OFF THE DEEP END!!!! No one is saying that to this rabble. Quite the contrary - all the mob gets day after day after day is exhortation to go farther and get louder and meaner and lower and shittier. And don't forget he's takin' yer GUNS!!!! (And one guess as to what kind of flames THAT will stoke, for Pete's sake!) There isn't a SINGLE voice among them pleading for cooler heads to prevail, or for anyone to act like the grown-ups they purportedly are.

I think they figured deep-down - okay, vote for the black guy, fine, fine. Have your fun and get it out of your system, you stupid liberals, but you'll see. This will all be just a temporary aberration and OUR side will just keep winning, reminiscent of those commercials for that disaster clean-up company that comes in to refurbish your house after flood or fire damage - "like it never even happened." Things'll just return to normal the way they're SUPPOSED to be and the way we're all used to having it and we'll all wake up and realize this was all just a bad dream.

Well, sorry, it did NOT work out that way. And I'm sure they all went into some sort of denial - like - "this CAN'T be happening, billy-joe-bob-bubba! Make it stop! It CAN'T be happening! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! PLEEEEEEZE GAWD, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" But God DID make it happen. THEIR God. THEIR undoubtedly lily-white, blue-eyed, King's English-speaking God. What a betrayal THAT is, 'eh? If you're a staunch, rigid Bible-thumper, imagine how THAT piece of the puzzle just won't fit, no matter how hard they pound on it or try to shave off some of the edges to force it to fit the way they want it to.

And some of them probably went into denial after Barack was inaugurated, because they spent most of the time between Election Night and Inauguration Day pretending it just hadn't happened, wasn't happening, wouldn't be happening, this was all some horrible mistake, some bad dream they're surely gonna wake up from, just any ol' minute now! I know, for example, how I felt when bush stole the first one and I just was so numb and in disbelief and felt such deep unexplained dread for what might come because this little shit and all the assholes he was bringing in with him - was gonna take power. I didn't even know why I was so filled with trepidation. None of us could guess what that frickin' beast would unleash. But I know what it's like even to briefly consider trying to talk yourself into believing it really didn't happen, and you'd turn around and find out that the world HADN'T gone mad, and your country HADN'T lost its collective mind and voted this shithead into office, and we'd all turn around and it'd be Al Gore safely and securely installed behind the Resolute desk. And it was not to be. Coming to grips with that harsher-than-harsh reality wasn't easy for me.

So I suspect it was for these people, too. They just didn't want to believe that their worst nightmare had happened. So some of them probably took the denier's way out and pretended it wasn't happening and they'd turn around and be relieved to find they'd just imagined all this, and they'd wake up to find john mccain set up in the Oval Office and sarah camped outside his door like things were supposed to end up.

But they didn't. That - that - "OTHER," that - that - "THING." That alien - that guy with the suspicious dark skin - who doesn't look like me and his wife doesn't look like my wife and his kids don't look like my kids and all those people he hangs with and has assembled around him aren't MY people or MY kind. This CAN'T be reality. Can it?

With the coverage any American president is going to get, it eventually dawned on these people that their worst nightmare was actually true - there was no john mccain in the White House - it was THAT CREATURE FROM THE BLACK - well - BLACK EVERTHING! FROM THE BLACK BLACKNESS! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously suspect that these people are now acting out because they've realized their greatest dread actually did happen and they're wide awake and he's still there in bush/cheney/mccain's White House - why, isn't that why they call it "The White House" to begin with, miz-daisy-mae-june-jooooolah? And they CANNOT STAND this, and they're certainly not going to abide it. They want it gone. Taken away. Nullified. Banished. Made to disappear. Sent out to the cornfield. ANYTHING!!!

And THAT hasn't happened either. He's still there. And there isn't a thing they can do about it except to hope that somehow they can vote him out in three years - if they can stand it that long. They're stuck in their own worst nightmares. And the longer they stay stuck, the worse they're gonna get. Louder, more beastly, more extremist, more hateful, more venomous, maybe even murderous.

I fear for the rest of us. Because at age 56, this is the most dreadful behavior I have EVER seen. And I'd bet money that this is what's under their vile, racist skin.

blacks, whites, and others, young & old, who understand what King Glenn & the rest of Hate Radio are up to, need to do something NOW. I am discouraged at how many DUers don't realize that the gun-waving at town halls fits together with this violence. My fear is that we are so weak, squeamish, accomodating, that the fight will be lost before we even realize it's happening.

36. The latest article at CNN (from 5 hours ago) states the FBI is investigating
and the assailant has been charged with a felony.

The FBI has "initiated an investigation in the matter to determine if a civil rights violation occurred," the agency said in a statement.

Because the alleged incident happened in full view of Hill's 7-year-old daughter, the Clayton County district attorney's office added a felony charge of cruelty to children.

" was visibly upset the night of the attack," according to Capt. James Callaway of the Morrow Police Department, who said he was on the scene shortly after the alleged attack.

38. The judge dropped the charges to misdemeanors
but the District Attorney is reviewing the video and the reports to try to determine what they can charge him with and present the evidence to the grand jury.

A judge dropped a felony child cruelty charge against Troy D. West Jr. He was released from the Clayton County jail Friday -- two days after being arrested for striking Tashawnea Hill in front of her 7-year-old daughter.

District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson said she may file felony charges against West. We're reviewing the police reports and talking to witnesses to determine whether felony charges should be presented to the grand jury," Lawson said Wednesday.

West, 47, is charged with battery, disorderly conduct and cruelty to children -- all misdemeanors.

Clayton Solicitor General Tasha Mosley, who prosecutes misdemeanor charges, said she sent the case to the district attorney because West should face aggravated assault charges.

"A hand or a foot can be used as a deadly weapon," Mosley said. "You can kill somebody or cause bodily injury with a hand."

39. Obama's election has unleashed an undercurrent of racism in this country . . .
that many denied existed, but which has been festering for decades . . . there are still people who consider anyone not white to be somehow inferior, and seeing a black man in the White House basically has sent them over the edge . . . listen to some of the so-called 9/12 demonstrators, and look at some of the disgraceful signs they're carrying . . . it's so bad that many, if not most, school districts allowed parents to opt their students out of watching an address directed to them by the President of the United States . . .

I don't know where this is all heading, but I fear for Obama's safety, and that of his family . . .
