The credit card bill has taught me that Corporate America will always find a way to
get around laws that try to restrain its excesses. This is why I am very wary of the idea that we can get the health industry to do the right thing also.

I believe that the only entity we can trust to not desert us in our direst time of medical need is the Federal Government. That is why the only health care proposal that is worth it to me is a public option. Simply knowing that I can get into a public option gives me a sense of security that I can't get with any of these private options.

Yes my current insurance works well for me...now that I'm healthy. But do I trust it to be there if something bad happens? Not really. And I won't know if my private insurance is worth a lick until I've been diagnosed with something bad which is simply too late.

I want an option I can count on. That simply doesn't exist in today's health insurance market.

1. I keep using the CC bill as an example of what they will do but I don't think anybody's
listening. They hire the smartest laywers they probably have their lobbyists writing loopholes in the bill right now. It's a joke.

I see it this way. When I look at the healthcare bill I see another casino being built in Vegas. The public option is the offramp to get off the Vegas Strip and back the the village.

Insurance companies are exempt from the anti-trust laws. They can legally price fix. The only competitor they have is the government. If this goes through without an escape route they will get together and agree to rape the country.

I could just KILL the conservatives for this!

3. We won't know how they are getting around the health care laws
for some time either.

The whole concept of private health insurance is flawed anyway. They only make money by denying services or by charging excessive premiums. Its a no brainer that private health insurance increases costs.

4. They've already taken the bill apart and figured out how to get around it. Variable rates indeed.

6. Paid off my one active credit card and finished up my car payment
for good measure.

At least with the banks I can control my destiny by limiting my debt. With health insurance I have no choice. Its either Kaiser or Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

I was hoping to retire prior to Medicare age, but this is looking less and less likely with all these crazy health insurance premium costs. Maybe I have to work for the State to ensure coverage.
