Today Rasmussen. Bush falling, Kerry rising.
Election 2004

Presidential Ballot

Bush 47.8%
Kerry 46.1%
Other 2.3%
Not Sure 3.8%

Sunday September 19, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 48% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 46%. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.

Our latest poll shows that voters assume there is built-in bias for each of the major broadcast news services--ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and Fox News. We have also re-released a comparison of this election and the 1896 election (the last time we had gone three straight elections without any President winning a popular vote majority). The similarities are striking, including the fact that the 1896 election was still dealing with a War that had finished more than thirty years earlier. Some believe that election inspired the American classic, the Wizard of Oz.

2. These numbers are great but the talking heads on cable news are
KILLING us! Nothing but doom and gloom all day. They seem to be going in for the "kill."

10. Fortunately
AS Rasmussen notes in the poll, the public beleives that all of the media polls are biased. If they do not beleive the polls, they are not going to listen to the talking heads.

Also, todays Zogby has Kerry and Bush very close, but in 4 out of the five factors in the polls, Kerry is favored over Bush.

12. Suddenly, I got this idea.
Perhaps the talking heads on cable news actully are helping us (inadvertently). They make BushCo think they are so sure to win that they don't need to play their "October surprise".

7. I believe the book was written about that time.
In 1896 the race was between McKinley and Willian Jennings Bryant.

14. I was fortunate to take a class with Hugh Rockoff
He is a really intelligent guy who joked that the idea for his "Wizard of Oz" article came to him under heavy marijuana use. lol.

News!!!!

This is the perfect time to begin building momentum to carry forward until election day...as long as the 'October Surprise' doesn't make too much of a ruckus!!

11. Obviously Kerry has bottomed out.
He had a terrible August, took some vicious and lie-filled shots and is coming off the ropes with determination.

The key messages for the close are in place: Iraq, the economy and healthcare. The strategy is to attack the coWard's strength.... trust.

Just saw a very effective counterpunch ad... "George W. Bush.... Wrong on healthcare" and another on Cheney and Halliburton.
