President Obama will address a joint session of Congress on Sept 9.

This comes as the White House has been signaling publicly that they are ready to take charge of the health care debate.

3. GREAT move compared to an Oval Office address because this way people will see the Repubs.'
reaction to each point he makes. If they boo everything, they'll be seen as obstructionists and if they DON'T boo (or if they somehow applaud), they won't be able to rail against it later.

4. They won't boo...
I don't ever recall congress booing the president. They might grumble, but they won't boo.

The most likely response is silence. They'll sit on their hands.

10. True. I guess I was thinking of the town hall crowds...
If they sit on their hands, they'll look like they don't want to help the people.

7. Each upcoming speech is the speech of his life.....to date.
Now watch everyone demand that this speech be required to do everything!

and it will....and so then, it will be something else that will be demanded,
and round and round we go, and it will not ever end; that, everyone knows.

11. Yes, and it will be the day after Congress gets back from their August recess.
Something exciting for the talking heads to focus on--rather than the latest town hall disruptions by the deluded right wingers.

12. Or his sinking approval ratings.
You know, the ones that dipped by only 2-points over the course of a month. :eyes:

He knows it's do or die time.

16. Make it simple, make it clear, make it short and drop the professor giving a lecture routine.

Go after the insurance industry and drug cartel and focus on the need for public insurance available to everyone in order to challenge the anti-health care policies of the health care industry and Wall Street profiteers.
