Attention MSM! 'Key' Republicans Politicizing Sen. Kennedy's Death!
Edited on Fri Aug-28-09 05:47 PM by sabrina 1
What are you going to do about it?

Over at Politico, Ben Smith plays along with the attempt by rightwing talk show hosts, who have become the official spokespersons and front for the leaderless Republican Party, to silence mourners at the funeral of Sen. Kennedy.

Ben Smith, instead of reminding these whining propagandists that the 1st Amendment they claim to so vigorously support, gives Sen. Kennedy's loved ones, friends, political colleagues and yes, President Obama the right to honor his memory any way they wish, he helps them further spread their whining attempt to insert their OWN agenda into this tragic and sad historical event.

He does so, by dutifully repeating their attempted pre-emptive assault on the free speech of Sen. Kennedy's family, political colleagues and supporters.

And he does it right in the headline of his article. An article btw, that in a grown-up country should evoke a mere 'who cares' from the MSM and anyone else who has become accustomed to their despicable wailing and howling whenever they are not getting their way. This is the headline he chose:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26514.html

'Wellstone effect' for Kennedy?

"Placing name on a health-care bill, in memoriam, or using his name as a sympathy ploy to advance a health care bill that would deny Americans the choices Sen. Kennedy had is an insult and is supreme hypocrisy,” the talk show host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday. 'The senator's passing is going to give them the opportunity to use the sympathy play to get as much done in his name as possible."

"No government was a partner with God in Ted Kennedy's death. To put his name on this current health-care bill would be to insult what he stood for,” Limbaugh said.

Why not 'Rightwing Talkshow hosts politicizing the death of Sen. Kennedy'? That would be a far more accurate title for his article.

I hope Rush Limbaugh is correct and that there will be a bill that will benefit all Americans and that it WILL be named after Sen. Kennedy.

Ben Smith and the MSM presumably are not being paid to use the 'Bush Doctrine' (attention Sarah Palin) of pre-emption against getting Healthcare for all Americans, so why is he helping them?

So far I have not seen any reporting in the MSM on this shameful and most obvious ploy to influence the debate on Healthcare coming from the right.

If they do cover it, I hope they report it accurately and that this article from Politico is not an indication that the memos have been sent out.

So, to the Media it is your duty to tell the truth about this effort on the part of the right to politicize the death of a great US Senator.

And to Democrats, it is your duty to ignore the whining of the right. THEY LOST! Thanks to the efforts of people like Sen. Kennedy. Do not dishonor his memory by letting the losers dictate how he ought to be remembered.

Get Healthcare for all Americans passed and name the bill after Sen. Kennedy. He deserves no less an honor for the decades of work he put into this effort. It is up to you to carry on the work he did as he is resting now.

A Golden heart stopped beating
Tired working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best

4. Thanks for the email addy
Good idea to let the shills know we are on to them. I have such anger towards our media for the part they've played in the supporting the rightwing agenda that has destroyed this country.

What they did with Wellstone's funeral was beyond despicable. And to try to invoke the lies that were told then as if they were the truth to use as a weapon now, is just beyond words.

Ben Smith is a disgrace. But if the MSM does the same thing, it WILL work as people are so easily fooled. I just keep hoping they'll show some spine and slap them down for once.

5. It "worked" at Paul Wellstone's Memorial
because that was the climate then..all bow down to the mighty incurious george in 2002.

This is the age of Obama and it's not going to happen..they'll try but it won't happen.

The corporatemedia did everything they could to pump up mcpalin and smear Obama but mcpalin was just too horrible for it to work.

And, it's always good to give them feedback on their pimping.

6. I hope you're right ~ I remember Wellstone's funeral
and the immediate attacks from the right. The media as always, gave them credibility by repeating their charges in the form of questions or whatever way they could find to bring the ludicrous allegations into the mainstream.

I don't trust the corporate media at all. For now they may feel it necessary to show some respect as Sen. Kennedy is so loved.

But in a week or so when the fight for healthcare really heats up, I would not be surprised to see them refer to these charges from the right, supposedly just 'reporting on the opinions of many ordinary Americans'.

We just witnessed them doing it with the ridiculous tea-baggers and birthers. Same thing with the Swift Boat Veterans. While refusing to cover hundreds of thousands anti-war demonstrations.

I asked a friend recentily is he remembered the anti-demos under Bush, and his answer was 'there were demonstrations? I don't remember them'. But everyone will remember the 'angry Americans' fighting a socialist healthcare system.

So, while you may be right, I think we should never take anything for granted and if necessary use their tactics to stop the media from once again, enabling the rightwing agenda as they have for so long.

7. The only thing I take for granted with the corporatemedia
is that they will continue to be facistwhores.

I cancelled my cable in Nov 2002 because I saw what they did to manipulate the midterm elections.

I know via DU that they've only gotten more blatantly desperate.

Thank Goodness we have the internet, Rachel, KO, and all those who try to get out the facts in opposition to the blaring propaganda machine.

They'll remember how stupid they were.. "But everyone will remember the 'angry Americans' fighting a socialist healthcare system."

Thanks for caring..so many more people are on to the rw "media" now since they gave us 8 years of bush+cheney and The War On Iraq.

If any corporation needs to be boycotted it's CorporateMediaWhoreCentral.

Here's more on that list of Frenchie's Action Contacts..but this isn't all of the ones we need..so if it's not on here I try to locate it.

8. Thank you for that information Cha
That took a lot of work. Bookmarked it for future use ~

You're right that they have gotten worse, with the exception of KO and Rachel not much news is reported ~ Chuck Todd revealed, unintentionally, just how bad it is on the Bill Maher Show where Jeremy Scahill showed them all what a good investigative reporter looks like.

The fight against Healthcare reform won't end because of Sen. Kennedy's death. I think the Republican Party is letting their attack dogs, Limbaugh and Hannity et al, do the dirty work for now. But even though people are more aware now, it would be a mistake not to be prepared for what is likely to happen as the fight intensifies.

I'm sure I'll be using that list you posted, not that they listen, but at least they know we are watching.
