Senator Franken supports public option
(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Minnesota Senator Al Franken made a stop at the Mayo Clinic today as the U.S. Senate works on its own health care reform bill.

One of the more heavily debated issues when it comes to reform is that so-called public option or government run health care.

So today, we found out where Minnesota’s Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar stand on that very topic.

<...>

Health care reform is one of the biggest domestic issues facing the federal government right now and Franken was quick to say he supports the President's idea of a public health care option.

1. Two weeks ago in Duluth Franken indicated that he'd be okay
with a coops - he must have gotten a lot of bad feed back on that one. He's never been a friend of single payer and is one of those who thinks each state has to find it's own solution.

This is the first time I've seen anything from Klobuchar indicating what she supports. Her staff has been sending out a very well written non-response response to any question about her healthcare stance.

3. Amy wrote me a letter and said that she was waiting for a bill that
would fit with what we have here in MN already. If that is the case then they had better remember to support Kucinich's amendment to allow states to create their own programs.

5. Franken's people are still calling looking for help paying recount expenses
the last time they called me I told them that I didn't like Franken's position on health care and, as I could not donate enough to influence his vote, I wouldn't be donating any more money to him at all. I also suggested that, as he already ranks #43 in donations from the health insurance companies (per the Star Tribune), that he call United Health Group for the money as his position is more beneficial to them than to any of us.
