Did a health care reform bill pass today when I wasn't looking?

No?

Then maybe everybody who has their panties in a bunch should

CALM THE FUCK DOWN

...until we see what kind of bill comes out of reconciliation in September or October.

The legislative process has been compared to sausage-making, because the process is vomit-inducing.

There are 4 or 5 versions of a bill rattling around congress right now. Even after the house passes one and the senate passes one, things will have to be mashed out in committee.

Only THEN... when the final bill comes up for a vote, do we have something to criticize or exhalt.

To go berzerk and talk about "going third-party" because of a rumor reported by AP that the President MIGHT be willing to back off of the public option is the height of childish inanity.

Get a grip. We're in the 2nd or 3rd inning of a 9-inning game here.

4. Scheming, I've been saying that, but statements from the HHS Secretary are important signals
The problem with this place is everyone freaks out at anonymous sources in politico.

8. They're still relevant signals
Sebelius wasn't sent there uninformed and I doubt she misspoke. I think she was sent there to float a trial balloon for co-ops. That doesn't mean the public option is dead but it means they are very seriously considering other options.

10. "float a trial balloon"?
I've read that before, not sure if it's believable.

Trial balloon to see how bloggers react? Or what?

If Obama is selling out to corporations, as some say, why would he care?

Or is it a trial balloon to the congress, or media for reaction?

14. Reaction from the public and from the left
And I'm not among those that think he's sold out to corporations. I think that congress is an extremely difficult animal to deal with.

15. I don't know, it seems like a weird way to guage public opinion; seems risky.
But stranger things happen.

Oh, and I never meant to suggest you think of him as a corporatist.

I've been reading to many dramatic posts today.

9. I, for one, am not going to kick back and wait to see what happens
Making noise makes a difference, see the Sebelius walk back tonight, see the end of life counseling tossed over.

All those who want to wait until the 4 year term is up before making any determinations as to good or bad policy and direction, need to get out of the way.

11. Yes... because for months you been posting negative OPs about Obama...
....started before the election with you.

The bottom line is that you have no choice but to wait 4 years render your judgement on Obama.

We know what you're about. You've been attacking him from day one... before he took a single action.

Hillary lost. Get over it.

...so you have no credibility.

19. Yes, it was a magical bill with dark unicorns and black elves
signed on Sunday by the invisible Insureraty, in blood, on the back of a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Obama admitted Kenyan birth, spit and then wiped his nose on the section of the bill guaranteeing a public option, which as we all know, is Masonic code signifying a line item veto. Republicans everywhere orgasmed in unison, and it rained frogs in Kissimmee, Florida (which actually happens about every other week, so don't get all biblical).
