Guess Claire McCaskill's changed her mind about the town hall mobs
That's what Democrats who pander get-

I disagree that the people showing concern over some healthcare proposals are "manufactured" Real folks, strong opinions.

1. Yes, I had a wee smirk on my face when I saw all the 'real' folks
with 'strong opinions' at her town hall today. I imagine she has changed her mind.

3. There is more then one 'type' of person thinking on health care.
Just talking about the Republicans, you can see a few groups. Some are manufactured, some are trying to stop discussions, and some are real folks with opinions.

People that want to know what it is about, and have the mindset of government is bad from Reagan. They do not think of Corporate structures as a form of social government, or wanting to maintain control over societies laws. They have some bad information, but they also have some fear about that knee jerk reflex of 'government is bad'. They also have some legitimate concerns about what was done over the last 8 years and their loss of pension funds, and economic downturn. Although not all of them realize that was from years of less government regulation.

There are some people that wrongly think it will only mean more taxes for them, not even realizing that the higher cost of health care they get from work, without them seeing the cost, has been lowering their wages. They don't think that a part of their wage taken to pay for private health care is just like a tax especially if it is not ran effectively or for more and more profits for shareholders and bonuses.

There are also people that are following marching orders from people that just want to stop health care. And those people know that the more Americans talk and think, the worse off the 'few' mindset Republicans are, because they know their programs are geared for the few. So they use methods of shouting down to stop citizens with legitimate desire to be informed and from being heard.

If you think about it.

The left protesters at the committee meetings months ago went in and disrupted some congressional hearings, because people were not being allowed to have their opinions discussed.

And some on the right, just like they use closed meetings, told their people to stop the dialog between congress and citizens by not opening the debate on different health care ideas.

Left protesters at hearings, we want to be heard.
Right method of closed door meetings, keep it out of public thought.

Left Congress people at town hall, talk and hear from the people.
Some Right protesters at town halls 'don't let the people and the congress people speak to each other.'

In both cases some on the Right want no dialog so people do not learn, and the left wants people to hear what is going on and ask questions and discuss what is happening with the bills.

4. She did an outstanding job at the town hall, from what I saw. She and Specter, both.
They're astute politicians...no doubt about that. I guess that's how they got elected.

6. Yes, Specter. Did you see the clips from his town hall? He's supportive of
Obama's health care goals, and in the face of the Confederate Flag mad hatter who intimated that Obama isn't an American...he said that he knows that Obama is of course an American, etc.

He stood right up to the loonies and looked at them, eye to eye.

Looks like he's had experience at handling testy town halls and loony civilians.

Obama said he would support him in 2010. I hope Obama changes his mind and supports Joe instead. Specter is only covering his own ass.

15. He did very well. He was actually down on the floor with the lunatics.
Why, I do not know, but that is much more difficult than standing on a stagem, though Claire was did very well schooling those fools like their where her kids! I loved it when she said, "I have to put on my mommy voice now ... where did all this rudeness come from. I don't get it." Her calm and cool, made them look like bigger fools than they were.

My only regret about McCaskill's town hall was that she either didn't see or chose not to call out the hateful old bitch (yes BITCH!) who tore up the other woman's Rosa Parks sign, and ask that she please leave.

12. This is showing who the competent representatives are...
That is for sure.

If you can't face your constituents and handle a meeting, you probably shouldn't be a congress critter in the first place.

She did great, as did Spectre.

16. Even though she's sticking to her belief that they ARE her constituents, I doubt they all ARE.
That's the point. If they ARE constituents, they should have to be listened to. If not, they're astro-turfers who just want to start trouble.

She did well in the town hall "meetings" I saw. She also wants to live without some asshat Birther dickbrain stalking her or her family.
