It's called dividing the enemy and outflanking them. Obama didn't walk into this debate blind about what to expect. So....with most Doctor's associations and Pharmaceuticals at least pledging to abstain from attacking the plan, Obama can focus people's rage against insurance giants.

Your stupid empty headed arguments are given voice by a bunch of deranged old lunatics and gun wielding younger protesters who don't couldn't find their ass with both hands if they tried.

So continue to prostitute yourselves, Andrea and company. It's what you do best. But note to Andrea...the syphillis has wrecked your face forever.

1. If the New York Times report is true re: Obama's $80B deal with PhRMA
Then whatever health reform we do get won't have as much teeth as we'd like. Big savings are going to be made with Medicare able to negotiate lower prices, but that will have to wait for congress to pass a separate bill.

I hope that Obama made that deal with his fingers crossed behind his back.

4. I predict that if Congress wants to go after price negotiations
it will be a much stiffer fight than this current reform push.

We'll probably have to use reconciliation.

Just my guess.

Google works wonders. Don't be too quick to give big pharma pats on the back.

5. the point is...he is disrupting their coordination and attacks
and that is very important. I'd much rather have unhinged birthers at town halls ranting about health care communisim and Jesus than a coordinated and surgical attack on the plan by insurance, big pharma, AMA, etc.

7. true...but even a "non aggresssion pact" feels like being with us.
the CEO's and management of specific companies may have their opinions, but the giant lobbying firms for the industry are not deployed.

The 60 Plus Association describes itself as a "non-partisan seniors advocacy group with a free enterprise, less government, less taxes approach." They list their main issues as the "death tax" (estate tax), energy, health care and Social Security. <1> 60 Plus is registered as a 501(c)(4) non-profit with the Internal Revenue Service. <2>

However, a 2006 report in the AARP Bulletin called 60 Plus a front group for the pharmaceutical industry. 60 Plus, along with Senior Coalition and United Seniors Association, "claim to speak for millions of older Americans, although as recently as 2001 none of the three listed any revenue from membership dues on their tax returns." The article added: "virtually all of their largest contributions in recent years have come from the same source -- the nation's pharmaceutical industry." <3>

9. well, that's disappointing. I wonder if they are reacting to not having their demands met.
it is very very intersting. If they don't play ball then fuck them. I hope Obama pays them back after health care reform is passed through reconciliation by fucking over their profits with a new law allowing negotiated pricing for Medicare part D.

God, I hate these fuckers.
