How do we deal with the new republican screed.. and their town hall disruptions..
We get down and get our people elected.

They are getting a lot of press, because the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I think we all know that.

But if we are not careful.. that squeaky wheel could catch some traction with low information voters.

The republicans are the champions of promoting lies as truth.

They do exactly the opposite of what they say the stand for.

The only way we will ever be able to get control of this getting them out of office.

Just good old nose to the grindstone politics of election. I not only think we can do it, I know we can!

Of course we are going to have to fight the media all the way.. but what else is new.

2010, the democrats take another cycle. Nothing would be finer than watching the "conventional wisdom" types choke on it.

1. PM me and I will tell you what I have been doing for 13 months to fight smears...
It's why most of my online democratic writing no longer occurs on DU, I do it for a mixed audience on an MSM site in a particular media market that is a swing state, that happens to be one of two states McCain had to hold, but didn't.

2. This is why the 2010 elections are vital and we underestimate the Republicans at our peril.
They will build on the low info voter and the ones who willingly believe the big lies and who are motivated by fear. The thing which Republicans need to succeed is for Democrats to get cocky, smug, and overconfident with their majorities and the mistaken belief that they could ever lose those majorities. Republicans are down but not out. We need to remember that for Democrats, nothing succeeds like success and we need to continue to fight the good fight.

3. I say we organize just as much as they did.
If Obama was able to get voted in through organization, then this can be done. If they can go to these events why can't we? They are not the only ones who can get loud. We need some counter arguments and shouldn't allow them to dominate the mikes and cause disruptions like this.

4. the mere fact that "low information voters" is a category says it all...
We, the people, are collectively too stupid to know the difference between a "right" and a "responsibility" in a free society.

We, the people, have allowed the public good to be auctioned off for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many.

We, the people, are doomed unless we are able to shake ourselves awake from this 30 year slumber and really begin to understand that cliches like "freedom isn't free" really ARE based on reality, but that reality is SHARED sacrifice that is necessary to keep the powerful interests in their rightful place and paying their rightful costs.

Until we, the people, stand up and say in a common voice that our principles of governance are no longer for sale to the highest bidder, then we will continue to get exactly what we deserve - a good ass raping from our corporate overlords.

We, the people, are more like me, the Toby, these days...
