Anyone else feel like we are in a time like the build up to the Iraq War when Republicans have their
own fake reality based on lies?

'Saddam Husein has WMD and can attack us - a mushroom cloud over a major American city. Saddam was involved in 9/11.'

Republicans once again have their own fake reality.

Obama wanting to reform Healthcare - providing coverage to everyone, keeping people who get sick from going bankrupt, prohibiting insurance companies from excluding people with preexisting conditions (oh, the horror) - EQUALS Nazism, "death panels", death "orders" saying who gets to live and who will die, destruction of the Constitution and America, conversion of the US to a socialist country, etc.

When our Congresscritters tell the screaming mobs that there is no euthanasia in the Legislation, no publicly funded abortion, that the Government is not taking over the health care industry the response they get is shrieks of "Liar", "Tyranny" and "Read the Bill" - as if these things ARE in the Bill but the Rep just hasn't READ it.

As we found out in the run up to the Iraq War, it is impossible to have a debate with people who believe lies and wont agree on the basic reality from which we start the discussion.

The one big difference this time - Democrats control the Presidency and both Houses of Congress. The Lunatics aren't controlling the levers of power this time. They are the lunatics throwing rocks at the adults trying to deal with reality.

Hopefully, the crazies just disgust the Reality-based people and the Dems will become more unified, not less.

Frank Rich's column should be interesting when it comes out tonight - so much crazy and unhinged that it would be hard to know where to start although the vile lies and smears of Sarah Palin along with the mobs would be my guess.

1. Why didn't they wise up when their faux Iraq reality was shattered?
That's what confuses me, they never learn and it seems willful. It's why I usually look to blame something else, like pharmaceuticals. Maybe that's giving them too much benefit of the doubt?

2. I guess the willful ignorance is fed by their echo-chamber of Faux News, Rush and the RW Internet.
Just imagine how ignorant and stupid you would be if you actually believed the crap they are feeding people.

3. I can't imagine that, which is why I think they're all high.

On Xanax, Gawd, whatever. Something is seriously wrong with these people.

Maybe we're witnessing what happens when most of the adult population is high on powerful mind-altering pharmaceuticals? It shocks me that there are no mainstream studies on this possibility.

I see the evidence in my Mother.

7. Nah, I take something for depression
Its for PMDD actually. My periods and mood swings when I get them have always been horrendous. It helps, a lot. And I only take 10 mg. And my mind is not altered, not yet anyway. Pot does alter it though. :)

4. One quick thought...
"The one big difference this time - Democrats control the Presidency and both Houses of Congress. The Lunatics aren't controlling the levers of power this time. They are the lunatics throwing rocks at the adults trying to deal with reality."

Unfortunately, the media, for the most part, IS controlling the levers of power.

5. That is EXACTLY where wer are... with the same actors in the media
pushing for a pre-ordained outcome.

All their woebegon mea culpas about Iraq were just so much false handwringing.

6. No, not at all
They were unstoppable then. Now, they're grasping at straws.

As Jefferson said, we're seeing the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolving, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it's true principles.
