Lamer GOP leader bashes Obama's happy hour
GOP leader bashes Obama's happy hour

From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) – Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Jan Larimer criticized President Obama Friday for his White House meeting with a professor and a police officer, saying the president needs to focus on more important issues.

"We are at war and Barack Obama is talking about beer in the White House," Larimer said at the RNC's Summer Meeting. "And it is wrong. It is not what our country is about."

Larimer was referring to Obama's "happy hour" at the White House a day earlier with Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and Cambridge police officer James Crowley. Crowley arrested Gates at his home after responding to a call that someone was breaking into a house. The arrest sparked a national discussion on the issue of racial profiling, which was amplified when Obama weighed in on the matter.

Leading up to the meeting, there was much discussion in the media about what type of beer would be served.

Larimer, who represents Wyoming, offered the sharp critique of the president as she recounted to her fellow RNC members her feelings about watching the USS Nimitz deploy earlier that day.

4. I knew it.....
Yesterday someone wrote in another thread that he/she was surprised that no one had attacked the President for having the beer meeting or drinking beer. I wrote back to give it time someone would come out of the woodwork with some kind of criticism. People who criticize Obama's every move are as prevalent as fleas on a dog.

When Obama was not being conciliatory and was stating that Crowley made a mistake, the ad hoc critics were demanding that he apologize to "all law enforcement." I fount that peculiar. If he had done that it would have been like saying that all police make bad arrests all the time. Some do, but more don't I expect.

After the 911 caller made it known that she had not said what Crowley had recorded in his police report, the critics were still demanding an apology to "all law enforcement" from the president. If he had done what they wanted, it would have been like saying that all police falsify arrest reports. I'm sure that some do, but I'll take odds that most don't. It is a criminal act, and I don't think all police are criminals.

Now that Obama is trying to cool the situation off, disengage himself and let things take their course he is being criticized using the war in Afghanistan as a reason for him not to have had the meeting. If Larimar thinks the few hours Obama's meeting will take would turn the tide of the war, maybe she should give up all of her leisure activities and sit on a wooden chair in a corner somewhere doing nothing but think of the war and how best to get out of it. Or maybe she should shut her mouth, and do her job. That would solve both her problems and maybe help her to do a better job herself. Sinking ships can always use some bailing.

5. so does that mean...
....since we're at war, that no one can drink beer until the war is over? Or is it just that Obama can't drink beer until it's over?

Either way, it's still a flimsy argument!
