This just in: Officer Barrett is not a racist!
Source: CNN

A Boston police officer who sent a mass e-mail referring to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. as a "banana-eating jungle monkey" has apologized, saying he's not a racist.

Officer Justin Barrett told a Boston television station on Wednesday night that he was sorry for the e-mail.

"I regret that I used such words," Barrett told CNN affiliate WCVB-TV. "I have so many friends of every type of culture and race you can name. I am not a racist."

We know this because he said so! Check the video where he claims to always treat people with respect! And his lawyer really cleared things up by saying that Officer Barrett did not refer to Henry Louis Gates as a "jungle monkey" but said his "behavior" was like that of a jungle monkey! Wow now I understand, I had taken his comments out of context!!

1. "I am not a diaper sex freak." - Sen. David Vitter (R - of course)

"As long as everyone is taking this opportunity to set things straight (smirk), allow me to inform you all that just because I have a history of having kinky Republicon diaper sex with hookers, does not mean I am a narrow-minded diaper sex freak. I actually have sexual proclivities of a wide range of types and kinds and sizes and fabrics, and am not some low-life kind of Exclusive Diaper Sex Guy or anything like that. So do not judge me. Smirk."

2. That's a relief. I guess it's "racial profiling" to think that ...
... people are racist who refer to African-Americans as "banana-eating jungle monkeys".

We should be ashamed.

Why do we hate white people? Why do we want our policeman to die?

21. Accept and live with it. This is a classic example of
how some white people claim that they can say all the racist things they want and do racist things, but "I'm not a racist".

There's no such thing as racism because these people have simply declared that they are not racist.

Deluded.

25. very true!
I don't recall ever hearing a person say they are racist. Even in the KKK some of them say they are not racist. Weird psychological quirk that goes with the territory I suppose. I can see why some people during the civil rights era said they preferred the racism of the South to the North because at that time in the South they were not claiming to be non-racist.

7. Some excerpts from the e-mail.
Edited on Thu Jul-30-09 10:14 AM by redqueen

"That paragraph was as pathetic as jungle monkey jibberish - I might as well ax you the question..."

"You are a hot little bird with minimal experiences in a harsh field. You are a fool. An infidel. You have no business writing for a US newspaper ... You should serve me coffee and donuts on Sunday morning."

"Famous for what? Expert why and says who? What has he done for me and my family? What has he done for the law enforcement community or military veterans or to secure freedoms and our borders in this country? What has he done to help limit and reduce my income tax?"

"Your final statement reads, "Gates, whose great success has allowed him to transcend the racial divide-" to which I ask, when did he transcend? He indeed has transcended back to a bumbling jungle monkey, thus he forever tremains (sic) amid this nation's great social/racial divide that makes it a free and great nation mixed with crazy and awkward differences. Go ahead, ax me what I think?"

"Your article titl(missing from image) should read CONDUCT UNBECOMING A JUNGLE-MONKEY BACK TO ONE'S ROOTS."

about him not being a racist? I just didn't use this
:sarcasm:

Racism is like alcoholism in that those who have the disease are always the last to know it, i.e. "I am not racist"

17. I also claim that I am not racist ....
.... but in my case I've never used the phrase "banana eating jungle monkey" to describe a person or a person's behavior.

So I got that going for me ... which is nice.

24. The subject line is misleading. I thought you meant the decision about his firing had
come down. Not that you were referring to his defense.

This guy needs to be fired asap, though.
