1. Some of them I get
Scorecard referring to Eisenhower's love of golf, Volunteer maybe being a bit of black humor, Deacon remarking on Carter's religion - but Timberwolf for Poppy and Eagle for Clinton? Odd.

2. Poppy took office right when the Minnesota Timberwolves were formed, maybe?
I think "Eagle" might also be a golf reference for Clinton.

Obama and JFK definitely have the coolest names, though. I heard Al Gore's was "Al Gore".

5. Gore's codename was "Sundance". The "Al Gore's codename was Al Gore" is a joke Gore used to tell
back when the media used to let him tell jokes without turning them into "proof" that Al Gore was pathelogical liar:

7. I should have known
Thanks; I used to spend a lot of time debunking defamatory rumors about Gore. I somehow missed that one.

6. Volunteer has to do with Alamo legends. Clinton's "Eagle" iirc was his choice & pure marketing
Timberwolf was leftover from Poppy's days as VP. Like most things about Bush pere, his name was random and idiosyncratic. The man seems to take pride in being off the wall, goofy without being witty, impulsive without being strategic. I'm sure he woke up on morning in 1980, looked himself lovingly in the mirror, and said "I'm a goddamn timberwolf, man," and then stuck with it.

Ford's I can't figure out, but then it might have been just a randomly selected and available code name from his days as House Minority Leader.

3. Secret Service picks a letter and uses it for the entire family.
For example, Hillary's code name is Evergreen.

;-)

19. Heh. Of course it's the service that's secret, not the code they use.
And don't tell me the Secret Service isn't a secret, because there's one right behind you right now. See?

Malia's is Radiance and Sasha's is Rosebud.

COS Rahm is Black Hawk and supposedly Robert Gibbs is Matrix which is generic for the WH Press Secretary

I'm afraid to ask what those two First Ladies names were. Lighthouse and Deadbolt?
