Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted
When doing so, please keep in mind that most of us come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

should be obvious to everyone.

15. Do you mean "Deep left " as in 1 or 2 clicks to the left of Bayh?
You tend to post as if that is how you subjectively view it.
At least that is how I subjectively interpret what I have read of your posts.

Did you know that FDR is "extremely deep left" and an enemy of the party, while Arlen Specter is center left now that he wears a (D)?

If I try to encourage FDR type policies, or equal rights, or even rule of law, I am labeled "Deep Left" by many here and you would most likely be one of the pitchfork bearers.

That is the type of impression many of you leave behind sometimes, I don't think you realize it however and might be a very nice person beyond those impressions.

Labeling other Democrats "Deep Left" is an attempt to purify the party of others besides the centrists and hurts the coalition, please try to take this into account and realize that that too hurts the party.

26. he didn't ask anybody to leave the party.
just to follow the rules of this message board, which is not affiliated with the party. and keep criticism of the party constructive.
he pointed out that people not in the fat part of the curve might get a little fuzzy on that. did you think he was talking to you specifically?

33. FYI - Republican light is not the fat part of the curve
That is PR bull propagated by the DLC.

Also I think he was talking about any that are left of center.
I am an FDR Democrat and so I was among the many he was talking about.

The rule portion I agree with, The "Far Left" label is not in the spirit of keeping criticism constructive.
Did you even read my post?

29. "deep left" is not my invention
"deep left" and "far left" is often the label self applied by many who feel that Obama isn't moving fast enough, or being bold enough, or turning right, or throwing the base under the bus, or whatever knee jerk silliness crosses their keyboard.

It seems to be the excuse de jour for Obama bashing. Not that there arent a few truly "far left" folks that simply feel that the democrats don't go far enough. For them, this is usually true, but those folks aren't foolish enough to act as if they worked hard to get Obama elected and are suddenly surprised that he is not a Marxist. They generally know the score and have been working for change in their direction for years.

32. That is an insincere reply, Many popular opinions are labeled far left to deride those not center.
And you damn well know it, but be my guest, I will just not expect sincere answers from you in the future.
Not a real problem in the larger scheme of things.

Such talk does add an unjustifiable sense of superiority to centrists "new way" democrats.
Such talk also discourages loyal Democrats that feel they are being pushed out in favor of more corporate, "republican friendly" post partisan types.

You are too intelligent not to know this.

11. I am not saying we should post uncivil crap such as saying "you don't have a gun do you".
For a post that suggests we should be civil you sure did end it in a very uncivil manner.

I do behave myself and very few of my posts have been deleted by the mods, they have frontpaged several of them however so I think I am on pretty good terms with them. I do however find it annoying when people who are not mods feel the need to post the rules as if to lecture the rest of us, especially when the person posting the rules has not exactly been known to be the most civil person on this site themselves.

12. We should be hearing on Franken soon, the Supreme Court could decide any day now
We know how the Supreme Court will decide, it is just a question of whether or not Pawlenty will be signing the election certificate. If Pawlenty signs it then Franken will probably be in office by the end of July, if not then who knows how long it will be. Pawlenty may be under a legal obligation to sign it however so the chances of it ending soon are pretty decent.

25. Quoting the rules as a friendly, gentle reminder is not a 'lecture'.
Interesting that you characterize it as such.

Yeah, they do delete it. I wish they wouldn't so when you lot go asking for examples (as you invariably do) we could break the rules and link to the unbridled idiocy.

from the "constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values", then why don't you just turn off FOX news?

Seriously, this is a political discussion board where people come to discuss political issues. It is not and has never been a fan club for every politician with a (D) beside his or her name.

21. Whoa! I think DU needs to read it's own rules too.
I think this one has fallen through the cracks ----> Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

Face it, there's a concerted effort within the Democratic Party to see Obama fail. The diffusely and perpetually angry anarchists and primary sore losers are dedicated to that cause and are allowed to act it out on these boards every single day without restraint.
