White House tweets in Farsi - Links to today's remarks about Iran
White House tweets in Farsi
@ 5:09 pm by Jordan Fabian

The White Houses official Twitter just tweeted the following message:

The message, which can be seen with our link, reads: President Obamas remarks in his press conference about Iran with Persian and includes a link to a full text of the remarks.

Twitter Room translated the message using Googles Translate service, which we reported last week just adopted a Farsi translation tool.

2. And what this says is....
... the White House knows that it matters NOT what the President says to the AMERICAN people re: the situation in Iran, but to the Iranian.

And I have a very clear memory of getting at 6am a month ago so he could CONTINUE talking to them.

He actually started speaking to them here ....

3. I just thought of something...
Imagine you were away from civilization for a decade and arrive back home today to find a mixed-face fellow named "Barack Obama" is president and he just issued the statement above on WH letterhead, and delivered remarks with Farsi subtitles.

4. And imagine being a Muslim living in Iran hearing ....
Edited on Tue Jun-23-09 06:56 PM by Clio the Leo
.... the President of the United States greet the Islamic world with "Asalaam walekum" .... then admit that his country was wrong for what happened in 1952.

It's enough to make you take to the streets if given the opportunity.

Or in other words....
