Iran TV from Tehran Says: "Obama opposed to meddling in Iran's affairs"
Press TV is an English language international television news channel which is funded by the Iranian government, based in Tehran and broadcast in English on a round-the-clock schedule. It has 26 international correspondents and more than 500 staff around the world.

Obama opposed to meddling in Iran's affairs
June 16. 2009

US President Barack Obama has expressed 'deep concern' about the post-election unrest in Iran but warned that meddling in Iran's internal affairs would backfire. "I have said before that I have deep concerns about the election. I think that the world has deep concerns about the election," AFP quoted Obama as saying.

"You have seen in Iran some initial reaction from the Supreme Leader that indicates he understands the Iranian people had deep concerns about the election." Obama said after meeting South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Washington on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Obama stated that the US does not want to interfere in Iran's internal affairs.

“It is not productive, given the history of US-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling in Iranian elections,” he added.

"When I see violence directed at peaceful protestors, when I see peaceful dissent being suppressed -- wherever that takes place -- it is a concern to me and it is a concern to the American people,” the US president stated.

“That is not how governments should interact with their people,” Obama said. “My hope is that the Iranian people will make the right steps in order for them to be able to express their voices, to express their aspirations,” he added.

Just hope he doesn't give in to pressure from right-wing Republicans who want a so-called "hard line" against Iran.

2. Definitely the right approach.
He addressed the things that should concern us (election integrity, treatment of protestors) without rattling sabres we don't have.

Thanks for the link, too.

4. Its the exact right approach. I hope Israel follows suit.
Let an organic revolution brew here. Countries draw tight and militarize under hard regimes when they fell threatened, like US after 9/11. Let them not feel threatened long enough to look at themselves, and I bet real progress will be made.
