40. The irony is that Mousavi would not have been a "strong" leader

and the mullahs had nothing to fear from him. THEY handpicked him to be a candidate. The seriously miscalculated here. They could have allowed him to claim his victory, and things would have gone along as before, with THEM in charge of the "important" things, and with a happy populace , filled with hope for the future, which would have unfolded slowly, just as before. i think they got scared when a minor candidate suddenly "caught fire" and garnered wild support, against Ahmedinejhad. They misread what was happening. and now they will pay for it..bigtime.

If it happened anywhere in the west the consensus would be unanimously against those who are rioting. Sympathy would be given to the small business owners and people who own cars that get destroyed, and shame would be cast upon those raucus protesters for bringing the police down on everybody's head.

Not to criticize, I just wonder what the difference is between this and the greek riots from last year, or the recent protests in Britain, or any thread talking about the famous WTO protests in Seattle, or the RNC from last year, or anywhere else world leaders gather to plot the future without our input or consent that draws out protesters.
