"Feeling the Hate In Jerusalem on Eve of Obama's Cairo Address"
Edited on Sat Jun-06-09 04:38 AM by Lilyeye
My republican aunt sent me this video of this guy interviewing Young Jews in Israel. I was pretty disgusted by this video, but at the same time I realize most of them were drunk. I wish they had of interviewed other people. Has anyone seen this?

and, minor addendum, most of those young assholes are Americans, not Israelis, though no doubt many are dual citizens, but they are from the US.

And they come off as stupid and uneducated.

Seriously, a Jewish political science major who doesn't know who Benjamin Netanyahu is? Seriously?

Oh, and most are drunk off their asses.

Edit to add what I posted on a previous topic about this video... "Their parents must be so proud..." :sarcasm:

2. Thanks for pointing that out about them being American.

That would explain the ridiculous stereotype used concerning the chicken and watermelon. The hate and ignorance coming out those little assholes mouths was truly disgusting. For some reason my aunt seems to think this video proves something.

Yup. Brainwashing works, especially on young impressionable minds. Works especially well on those that don't have a natural skepticism and curiosity... or a broad (one used to say liberal without the political overtones) education.

4. I'm pretty sure that's not what she was trying to prove, but I agree with your view 100% lol.

5. Didn't you go to the youtube site?! It's stated in the info box as clear as day.
The video poster said exactly who it was. It's not that it proves something or not but it taps insight into how some people are thinking----mainly what obstacles might stand in the way.

I find it horrible to just dismiss this video as a bunch of kids. It actually pisses me off when people apologize for this by saying that they're stupid drunk kids spewing hate. Mel Gibson was also extremely intoxicated when he spewed his anti-Semitic hate. Did we let him off the hook? Of course we didn't because we took offense to what he had stated and we held him accountable.

Of course, there is no way in hell that these kids speak for the entire Jewish community much like Mel Gibson does not represent the thinking of all White Christian males but it shows that there are people there who may say, do or not like any actions that call for change.

Not to mention some of these kids were sober and slightly tipsy calling for the President's death. I don't care if you're drunk or not that's just unacceptable.

8. Yes I went to the youtube site and I just watched the video.
Thankfully it was pointed out to me. So no big deal. It just seems silly to interview a bunch of drunk irrational idiots about politics, but then again sometimes that is when the true colors come out. I do agree that these kids shouldn't be let off the hook easily. The crap they said was disgusting and hateful. You make a good point about Mel Gibson not being let off so easily when he was drunk.

9. "I'm a Political Science Major, so like, I Know My Shit..."
At about 1:20 into the clip, girl sitting down who also is sure Obama is a Muslim.

Then she is asked, "Do You Know Who Benjamin Netanyahu is?".

And, sure enough, she doesn't: "I don't know who his is, who's Benjamin Yahoo?"

6. Unfortunately, IMO, there are too many American dual-nationals
who work hand-in-hand with RW Israeli politicans to micromanage and fund Israeli policies that basically favor the RW there. Think of our AIPAC and worse.

They actually hurt Israel's interests and Israelis generally.

And no, none are fans of Obama, or of any kind of common sense approach, or of ANY politician who favors a common sense approach. All are enemies of peace in the region.

7. I try to avoid making such sweeping generalizations
however, I see the natural conflict of interest from dual citizenship and would discourage it, in general.

11. You may have misinterpreted my comment somewhat ...
"too many" is not necessarily a sweeping generalization and I do generally try to avoid making such. I apologize if it came across otherwise. In context somewhat, I have Jewish neighbors (not US citizens and neither a dual national with Israel) who quite recently returned from a visit to NYC. They were quite surprised and somewhat shocked at the level of animosity shown towards Obama among many friends, acquaintances and family members that they visited there. That animosity stemmed in good part from his coming out against settlements on occupied land and what was perceived as a "hard line" against Israel.

I remember the first time that Netanyahu ran for PM and how "Bibi" was a darling of the NY talk show circuit during the campaign. To some, he is still a darling. I realize that they are a small minority, but that small minority is a very strident and powerful one. Yes, not all in that minority are dual nationals. For many of those who are, however, the idea of Israel is often more black-and-white restrictive than that held by Israelis who live there full-time. That is troublesome for all.

And yes, I concur about dual citizenship generally, although some may have had no choice in the matter. A second nationality can occur merely by birth or marriage in some countries. I am eligible for a second citizenship myself, but have never exercised the option ... although I admit that I might seriously have considered it had Obama-Biden not been successful last November. Thank God that they were!

:hi:
