The torturers are forming a circular firing squad.
Item: Cheney is so unnerved he can't control himself.
Item: leaked story contends Condi authorized torture prior to memos
Item: Condi stooge Zelikow reveals his anti torture memo was disappeared
Item: Bybee lets friends know he is remorseful and suggests Yoo really wrote the Bybee Memo.
Item: Unattributed quote from highly placed Bush official contends that memo saying actions described are torture and ineffective never reached top guys.
Item: time lines don't match thwarted terrorist attack defense
Item; Scooter Libby is prime example of Bush loyalty to underlings who are willing to take the blame for W and Dick.

I believe that all of these sorry excuses for humanity know that they are in real danger and will try to be sure that the punishment falls heaviest on their criminal pals. One of the worst things about being in an unraveling conspiracy is that when they unravel, all your buddies become your accusers. And your only hope is to rat the others out before they rat on you. The survival instinct of these thugs will add to the increasing torrent of information being released in such a way as to compel a criminal investigation no matter who would rather avoid it.

It's all part of the war criminals' rebranding project.

6. Thanks Prosense....this is so informative.
These idiots are implicating themselves. Cheney did it too...he doesn't dispute the torture and basically says it was necessary for national security. I was like thanks for admitting guilt. Now you can go to jail.

3.  Cheney is a coward. He hides behind his daughter now.
Earlier he let Lindy England take the rap for his cruelty and venality while he hid out. It is amazing how many of these sunshine patriots are just plain spineless.

7. Cheney is a coward, always has been...
it seems to come naturally to the "privileged".

Cheney is little more a scared little punk that never understood anything about humanity. He is a psychopath, and should never have been given any kind of power at all. The Constitution puts the VP as President of the Senate, and next in line if the president dies, becomes incapacitated, removed by impeachment and trial, or resigns. That's about its entire function...preside over the Senate until something bad happens to the president. Never before was a VP given anywhere near the power Cheney wielded. Truman was far out of the loop, and did not learn of the Manhattan Project until the day after he took office. As VP, TR was hiking in the mountains when he found out president.

Cheney is pathetic, always has been, always will be.

4. Who here thinks that O figured this would happened and basically wanted the end of Repubs?
At this point...I'm seriously starting to think this was a master plan by the head Dems such as NP, O, Kerry, (maybe Feingold was in the loop a little), and a few other cats. I'm no freeper and I know this sounds almost like freeper language (I'm actually happy for this).

But I just find this way too organized. We get the leaked memo from Homeland Security fearful of crazed rightwingers. Then all the Right wingers on capitol hill and Faux are like screaming they're talking about us. P.S. I thought they were talking about them too. Then 2 weeks maybe less later memos are released. Now the pics are released and all in the left was screaming O is screwing us over he's this and he's that but little by little it's a nuanced game. Then they have Rahm say what he said...and O was always saying "don't look back"----but that even seems orchestrated. Sort of like Rahm was setting the Freepers up to feel safe and they could use him as the go to guy. He would enter their trust because he would insure them safety from possible prosecution. Nice move really because in the end Rahm has only one loyalty besides serving the people and his family and that's O.

I think it's a set up to take out the Repub party. Plus due to the Repub party they set themselves up for disaster. Their racism forces them to engage a Black head of the RNC----who's a failure. They come out with a budget plan that was utterly ridiculed. Newt Gingrich, failure extraordinaire, is now a talking head alongside Limbaugh----Failure. Then you have Boehner making the ultimate mistake by not calling it torture their infamous talking point of, EIT= Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, but by it's proper name...Torture.

We have that Harman crap...but then that's been shut down by the fact that Gonzalez and others in the Bush (Republican) admin was all over this to snuff it out making it even worse and bringing it right back to the Repubs.

In the end..this just seems to fall into place so well. Now we have the International community also calling for some heads if the US doesn't finishing up the process. I get the feeling Repubs are out for good.

8.  If criminal prosecutions are held It is to Obama's political
benefit to have been reluctant to initiate it. The President showed repeatedly during the campaign that he was playing chess while the others were playing checkers. He has a long view on all the key issues and seems to adopt the tactic most likely to assure that the long term goal is met.

9. Well, even master politicians need help from their opposition so I don't think Obama

orchestrated any of this, but he did understand it and use it. I think he sincerely reached out to give relevance to the minority party and to include them in the solutions. I think it doesn't take a genius to see what's been happening to our country and who the perpetrators are and how to counter it, especially if you have a political mind process. For example, here at DU most of us have it figured out even without knowing all the facts, and we've had it figured out since the beginning. We knew pretty much right away that the war in Iraq was bogus and for oil and Empire. But I also think that Obama does plan many steps ahead. For example I believe he planned for the GOP to stridently oppose him and therefore had plan B in the wings. He's now on plan B, which is how to proceed without Republican help.

What makes it look easy for Obama is that the Republican party could fall over dead with just a breath of wind. It's still standing only because they're all huddled together and with their backs up against the wall giving the illusion of some sort of coherence. But it's only an illusion and their actually deluded into thinking they're bluffs are being taken seriously at this point.

But I don't think Obama wants the Democrats to be the only party or a permanent party. Half the fun of being a politician is the wheeling and dealing of compromise and political saavy. It makes us crazy but they thrive on it. It's like a wrestling match or a good workout for real politicians. It's like playing baseball or football or basketball. Playing without an opposition is senseless and no fun. Even a one on one is better than shooting baskets by yourself.

When your enemy are busy destroying themselves so well, don't interrupt them.
