What's Dick Cheney hiding?

Cheney to keep vice presidential records, will not allow them to go to Bush library ‘for now.’

The Dallas Morning News reports that “for now,” former Vice President Dick Cheney’s records will not be going to the George W. Bush presidential library at Southern Methodist University. Cheney’s team said the former VP needs them to write his memoirs. “It made more sense and was more convenient to keep them in D.C.,” said a Cheney spokesperson. The secrecy even appears to extend to Cheney’s artifacts and gifts:

During talks last year, the National Archives suggested that Cheney’s artifacts — like a set of gold Murano glass candlesticks and bowls from Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi — be sent to the Bush library. That way they could be displayed with Bush’s items, including the 9 mm pistol that Saddam Hussein held when captured by American soldiers in Iraq.

The VP preferred to have the VP artifacts remain with the records,” said Sharon Fawcett, assistant archivist for presidential libraries.

As Vice President, Cheney ordered the Secret Service to destroy records of his visitor logs.

4. The real question is, what ISN'T he hiding?
If you remember, after the 2000 selection, one of the first actions the new administration took was to change the number of years presidential records could be sealed - so, for example, a number of records from the Reagan years that were supposed to go public never did. At the time, I thought that keeping things that happened under Reagan secret was a primary reason they were so determined to get into office in 2000, by whatever means necessary.

Of course, so many terrible things happened afterwards that I think people forgot this. Whatever the opposite of transparent government is, that's what Cheney believes in. Especially where he and his friends are involved.

9. I find it hard to believe that anything incriminating
has not already been destroyed. However, he may get a thrill looking at torture memos and things like that, so maybe he kept some souvenirs.

11. What is the daily interest on a trillion dollars?
Everyday Cheney and his crew keep the money they stole hidden away drawing interest is more free money in their pockets.

The secrecy will continue until Cheney is called before a Grand Jury and placed under oath for questioning. The sooner he is questioned under oath, the better.

19. everything and nothing
He probably has everything from the Energy Commission records to torture tips, but I think it's just a matter of principle with him in that he has none and he doesn't want anybody poking around in his business.

20. Of all the players in the bush* admin....
I want to see Cheney doing the perp walk into the Hague the worst. Then Rumsfeld followed closely behind by preznit shitforbrains. They were the real "axis of evil" and most of the world knew it then and still know it to be true to this day.

The day I see those three in handcuffs and held in a dank jail cell while awaiting accountability, will be one of the most satisfying days of my life.
