I am so sick an f'ing tired of hearing Joe Scarborough and other members of the media implying this is socialism. These companies are more than entitled to fail but if the screw up their business and ask the TAXPAYERS for help and WE (through the government) grant it to them our elected leaders are more than welcome to have a say so in what happens to the company.

2. Go disrupt another thread, this is not about Detroit vs. Wall Street
. . .this is about the accusation that Obama demanding Waggoner resign is socialism.

You raise a valid point FOR ANOTHER THREAD.

. . .I am just trying to keep the discussion about the issue I raised in the OP. You can go ahead a hijack this thread all you want, but I am not going to take the bait, ESPECIALLY SINCE I AGREE WITH YOU! We can have this discussion in another thread, this thread is about the accusation that Obama demanding Waggoner's resignation is socialism.

3. The DOUBLE STANDARD is overwhelming.
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 07:22 AM by AndyA
The financial guys keep their jobs, and are entitled to their bonuses because of contracts.

Yet the car guys must step down, and contracts need to be broken.

Obama needs to get his people together and figure this out, because there are quite obviously two different standards in play here, and that's not right.

The millionaire executives contracts are somehow worth more than the auto worker's contracts. It seems to me the millionaires are better prepared to survive that the union worker is. Get it fixed, Barack. There should be no double standard.

Edit to add: Scarborough is just fanning the flames, that's what he does best. Ignore the facts, and don't tell the whole truth if it screws with your right wing talking points for the day.

Obama inherited a MESS from Bush/GOP. But all parties need to be dealt with equally and fairly.

9. I think they go hand in hand.
There is a double standard. If the government is entitled to dictate how the auto companies operate, why aren't they entitled to do the same with the banks?

My apologies for participating in your thread. :eyes:

10. Don't act like I don't appreciate your opinion because I agree with it, however. . .
. . .how f'ing hard is it to respond to issues raised in the OP. Some posters saw the subject and ignored the content.

11. It's the damned if he does, damned if he doesn't line
If he had left the management intact, they would have bitched about that, saying he was rewarding failure.
