Three IATSE Locals in Arizona and New York Endorse HR 676
More and more on signing onto single payer. Its a good thing you know:-)

Three IATSE Locals in Arizona and New York Endorse HR 676

Three local unions affiliated with the International Alliance of
Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), AFL-CIO, have endorsed HR 676, single
payer healthcare legislation introduced by Congressman John Conyers
(D-MI).

In Phoenix, Bill Hennessy, Business Representative for IATSE Local 336,
reports that the local is “sending a letter endorsing this bill (HR 676)
to our senators and congressmen.”

In New York City, Valerie Gladstone , President of IATSE Local 798,
Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists, and Daniel Dashman, Business Agent,
report that on March 9th the membership “…unanimously voted to endorse HR
676…” and by doing so, the letter continued, “Local 798 is honored to join
the hundreds of labor organizations and other groups who have already
endorsed this bill. Local 798 by this action also joins those groups and
organizations in their dedication to the principle that this great nation
should have the finest affordable healthcare for all of its residents.”

Also in New York, IATSE Local 18032, Association of Theatrical Press
Agents & Managers, has also endorsed HR 676. Nick Kaledin, ATPAM
Secretary-Treasurer said: “The Board of Governors fully supports the
campaign to pass HR 676…and sent an e-blast to the membership asking them
to write their representatives.”

HR 676 would institute a single payer health care system by expanding a
greatly improved Medicare system to everyone residing in the U. S.

HR 676 would cover every person for all necessary medical care including
prescription drugs, hospital, surgical, outpatient services, primary and
preventive care, emergency services, dental, mental health, home health,
physical therapy, rehabilitation (including for substance abuse), vision
care, hearing services including hearing aids, chiropractic, durable
medical equipment, palliative care, and long term care.

HR 676 ends deductibles and co-payments. HR 676 would save hundreds of
billions annually by eliminating the high overhead and profits of the
private health insurance industry and HMOs.

In the current Congress, HR 676 has 69 co-sponsors in addition to Conyers.

HR 676 has been endorsed by 499 union organizations in 49 states including
123 Central Labor Councils and Area Labor Federations and 39 state
AFL-CIO's (KY, PA, CT, OH, DE, ND, WA, SC, WY, VT, FL, WI, WV, SD, NC, MO,
MN, ME, AR, MD-DC, TX, IA, AZ, TN, OR, GA, OK, KS, CO, IN, AL, CA, AK, MI,
MT, NE, NY, NV & MA).

1. This is great!
The more the truth about single-payer spreads, the more popular it becomes. We have to continue to work to break down the walls of fear the republicans are spreading about "socialized medicine".
