Earth to idiot mainstream media people: Obama uses a teleprompter because...
he has a lot to do everyday, he can't sit around memorizing the myriad speeches he has to give. Also, when you consider how long and intricate the speeches are, it's no wonder he needs prompts. There's nothing wrong with this.

It would only be an issue if he couldn't talk and answer questions off the cuff. But as we know, he holds pressers like an ace. He's as wonky and as knowledgeable as Bill Clinton ever was and he is charming and commanding as Reagan on his best days. He can be folksy in town halls and professorial in formal press conferences.

There's just absolutely no good reason for going after him because he uses teleprompters during his major speeches. The only thing I'd consider marginally reasonable is to say he might be better off sometimes giving a speech with written notes. But either way, it's reasonable to think he should be handling the issues of the day, not "prepping" for a speech.

1. All presidents use a teleprompter - Obama seldom needs it....
Reagan and Bush could not have uttered one word without a teleprompter.

2. We all need to demand clay tablets. Paper is just as wrong as a
teleprompter.

3. WHY ARE YOU USING THIS ARGUMENT????????
Geebus Christ. DUers are starting to piss me off.

Stop defending Obama for using a teleprompter because he's busy or more involved. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!

You know that the defense is:

EVERYY FUCKING PRESIDENT SINCE THE INVENTION OF THE TELEPROMPTER HAS USED IT IN PREPARED STATEMENTS AND SPEECHES. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's nothing new. It's not different. It's not because Obama is more involved or curious or busy or anything.

THEY ALL USED A FUCKING TELEPROMPTER.

And if we sit by and let this meme take hold by using "Obama is...." arguments, guess what?

We'll lose.

It's time to start calling out the fucking disingeneous TV press corps for repeating this bullshit as they have all covered at least one other administration and guess what?

SHRUB USED A TELEPROMPTER, TOO!

End. Of. Story!

4. You are wrong. He must use clay tablets to redeem himself.
It's either that or resign.

5. Not only that, but every "reporter" accusing Obama of
using a teleprompter, is reading that story off...a teleprompter. Ooohhhh the irony hurts so!!

7. I hear 'ya but I still think it's defensible no matter how you look at it.
It's common practice, as you point out, and it makes sense from a practical point.

6. they know what it's for
they may act like it's speaking for him ... that's how far technology has come, he's lip syncing his prepared remarks. in this youtube age he doesn't want to be looking down at notes while talking to a prime time audience ... looking like a high schooler presenting his science report. if they accept that all presidents use a teleprompter for state of the union addresses, then why wouldn't opening remarks for a prime time presser would be treated the same for aesthetic purposes?

10. Let them know what you think..
I've written that I don't care if Prez Obama uses a teleprompter but I do care that the feeding frenzy at the corporatemedia zoo is going on and on about it like it means anything.
