What do you think the best thing that President Obama has done so far is?
To me if I had to name only 1 absolute best thing and couldn't name others, it'd be a tie between the stimulus and the coming announcement on Monday rescinding the awful ban on stem cell research. Also, the very fact that someone like Barack Obama holds the presidency due to the inspiration and desire to be better that he gives to so many as well as the stain that he helps to begin to remove from this nation's history may be the meta best thing outside of specific policy that he has done. In short, just being there.

What do you think is the best thing that he has done so far?

...and singular subjects with singular verbs.

At last, I can teach grammar with a clean conscience.

6. The best thing that Barack Obama did was to win the Presidency...
Everything else comes from that.

Ain't grand that this question can even asked after a mere 45 days?
It illustrates that he is staying busy and full of purpose....even if he is just getting started.

Now it feels like things are rational again and you don't have to shake your head at Administration claims in disbelief.

and fight terrorism within those ideals. Basically, reaffirming the rule of law and undoing the concept that terrorism leaves that on the table for abandonment.

... not really, but I just had to say it.

The best thing he's done so far is to have brought a sense of professionalism back to the executive branch.

15. Maybe not the *best* thing, but I'm impressed that he is dumping the contractors!
Goodbye Halliburton, KBR, and Blackwater!

There will still be government contracts (as I understand it), but the process will not favor them as it did under-- well, you-know-who. That process was so corrupt and so many billions of dollars were wasted. If no one is investigating with the intent of prosecution, someone should.

19. Good Question, PoliticsGuy~
Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 05:25 PM by Cha
The best thing Obama has done afaic is the trifecta..Deadline for the troops, The Environmental turnaround from the bush Orwellian policies, and working on the Economy via Health Care Reform(and part of that is Stem Cell Research), for our country and a global recovery.

And, I totally agree with your statement..

"Also, the very fact that someone like Barack Obama holds the presidency due to the inspiration and desire to be better that he gives to so many as well as the stain that he helps to begin to remove from this nation's history may be the meta best thing outside of specific policy that he has done. 20. Making us feel like we no longer live in an occupied country
Run by apathetic nincompoops. I was not the only one counting the days until Obama took over and thinking 'only X days until we have someone who is competent and gives a damn in charge'.

That to me has been the best thing he has done. Its probably no coincidence that in fall of last year about 90% of the public thought we were on the wrong track as a country. Now it is only about 60%. This is despite the economic collapse. Bush was such a disaster that he was worse for our countries morale than the second great depression.

21. Caused the Republican Party to devour itself in pain and rage.
Sure, I could mention the stimulus, the LL Fair Pay Act, the Gitmo closing, the reversal of the abortion gag rule or the stem cell ban overturn, but this one is the sweetest and by far the funniest. Watching Republicans have to kiss Rush Limbaugh's cyst-ridden ass as their party drives itself further into the wilderness has provided endless hours of entertainment.
