Does Steele really think that his buds expect him to actually lead, or
formulate ideas, or run the party? No, he is just a token... ahem.. non-White to provide the desired front. He should not despair, though. He is in a good company of Reagan and Junior who were chosen by the powers that be to provide a decent front, not to think - both went to bed at 10:00 pm, I think - and to do and say as they were told.

1. He's definitely token..
he has just put in place to fight against Obama as another Black man. "To fight the Black one needs to invest in another the Black to get things done." It's bull shit and they don't realize it's the man himself that people supported...Michael Steele is not that man and he does look like a muppet.

3. Just as they thought Palin would attract Hillary supporters
She may have, a dozen or so. But by then they should realize that Hillary and Obama are not generic Woman and Black but well qualified and knowledgeable individuals who happened to be a woman and an African American.

2. Black Republicans. I don't get it.
And I've said this before here at DU.

I don't get gay Republicans.

Or Hispanic Republicans.

Seriously, stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger, folks. It will be quicker.

And the woman asking for Steele to resign his position is black. What at the RNC could possibly be attractive to a minority? If they're suicidal, get a gun.

4. Big fish in a smelly puddle?
If the RNC wants to show a face of diversity and is looking for an African American or Hispanic, well, there are not many of them. So the ones who stick out will be noticed.

5. Yeah, it's certainly baffling
Call it the Clarence Thomas syndrome, I guess. Some small percentage so stubborn in their dogma that they can't or won't see that the people they align themselves with have dedicated their lives to promoting policies that are antithetical to their interests.

10. Real Affirmative Action
Edited on Fri Mar-06-09 08:18 AM by AllentownJake
All the stereo types the GOP wants to lob on Affirmative Action exist in their own party.

Lets face it, a guy like Steele, Clarence Thomas, or that woman who was on Rachel last night would never be able to achieve what they did in the democratic party, the reason is simple the minorities that move up in the democratic party are political geniuses and in the top 1% of IQs in the country they have alot of competition and have to be pretty intelligent to compete. They can also kick the shit out of the white politians.

Republican minorities and women (not as a total rule) don't have to try as hard to be put into the appearence of a position of power because they can move into the roles as tokens.

Look at the Bush Administration Rice and Powell were both Sec. of State. In a cabinet meeting were they ever heard?

8. The Republicans would never hesitate to use some Uncle Tom fool.
The problem is that Steele can only serve to alienate more minorities for selling out. I hope they keep him in a position of leadership.

11. Sadly at least as far as voter registration rolls go
We have no shortage of racist either...they have more, but from knocking on doors in the primary, we have quite a few ourselves.
