Imagine If Michael Moore Had The Same Power Over The Democrats That Rush Has
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 09:41 PM by Yavin4
over the Republicans.

Imagine if Dem congresspeople or the DNC chairman were forced to apologize to Michael Moore when they lightly criticized him.

Imagine the hue and cry from the media. There would be a demand that all Dem pols repudiate Moore at once by all of the talking heads in the media.

2. Michael Moore is not a monumental ass like Limburger
Democrats wouldn't be saying anything for which they'd need to apologize.

3. Yeah, I Know, But I'm Trying For An Analogy Here
Mike's a great guy, so yeah, it's completely different. However, just imagine a Dem pol criticizing "Sicko", and then having to apologize for being wrong.

That Dem pol would be roasted by the media for apologizing to Michael Moore.

13. You're right. He's not nearly as inflammatory as Limbaugh. nt

5. We'd be just as fucked as they are.
Obama's the guy. Keep it straight.

Moore is OUR gassy blowhard. Another guy safely (and profitably) lobbing grenades from the sidelines. Big deal.

7. One key difference is that I doubt Moore would ever claim to be a Democratic "party leader"
while Limbaugh (and apparently a pretty frightening number of Repugs) seems to fancy himself the unofficial head of the Republican Party.

8. Well, that's true - but the thought experiment was 'if'
....and my opinion was that if Dems had to kiss up to Moore like the GOP does to Limbaugh, we'd be in just as bad a shape. :)

9. Where do you think Obama got the idea from?
To turn Rush into a "Republican Michael Moore" so to speak...

10. The difference is...
Limbaugh really is a big giant piece of shit and the Republicans love him! Moore really is a good and talented progressive but the Republicans turned Moore into a pariah within the Democratic Party. We don't need to shoot down our own, we let the Republican's do it for us. All they needed to do was shriek the word "liberal" and we ran like lemmings.

11. No slight against Moore meant.
I'm talking about perception- and most moderates think "they are all the same"

12. That's because Drudge has ruled the dialog
and both Democrats and Republicans spoke the same language. It would behoove us to wrest control and "rehabilitate" our muckrakers.
