1. I'm looking forward to Al Franken finally(!) being able to take his seat.
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 12:26 AM by nsd
And I hope we don't have to wait for 2010 for that to happen, but at this rate, who can say.

3. Jim Bunning-Kentucky
Crazy old nutcase and approval rating of 43%.

Diaper Dave Vitter-Louisiana

Only won by 51% last time, before the Baby Huey scandal.

Arlen Specter-Pennsylvania

No explanation needed. Time for him to be replaced by a Democrat.

7. HAH! I hope Bunning decides to stay in, the RNC is begging him to retire!
It would be so sweet to watch him get his ass whupped after that campaign he ran in '04.

5. So Governor Patrick will appoint someone to fill it
99.9% sure that that person will be a Democrat.

But hopefully Ted will recover through his current treatment regimen and it won't be an issue.

15. Not true
Massachusetts now has a special election to fill the seat. That came into being in 2004 so that Mitt Romney wouldn't be able to fill Kerry's seat.

27. There are a dozen well qualified people in Mass to...
take his place, but they will be JUNIOR Senators from Mass.

Barney Frank, State Attorney General Martha Coakley, just to name two of many.

Mass will have no problem finding a well-qualified person to replace their most admired Senior Senator.

10. OHIO George Voinovich For Sure--SOS Jenniffer Brunner....
As well as Lt Gov Lee Fisher and I believe another candidate has already announced they are forming exploratory committees! This is a seat I truly believe will be picked up by a Democrat. I would strongly support Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to be the candidate because I have personally met with her after the 2004 election and expressed to her my concerns about election fraud and the dire need to reform the office of SOS. She was very kind and knowlegable about the matter, and sure as shit she was elected and the 2008 election went smooth as can be in Ohio-and she if a strong advocate for early voting which in my opinion is one of the greatest ideas to ensure that all people have the opportunity to vote!

21. Mine are a little more obvious .......
The NY Seat that Hillary vacated. Hopefully a real Democrat will run for the seat and not one sponsored by the NRA.

The Illinois seat should be interesting.

And I am curious to see if Biden's son will run for his father's seat.

Roy Blunt vs. Sarah Steelman.
Makes Carnahan's chances that much better.

32. Specter is my number one
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 10:21 PM by AllentownJake
It will be interesting to see if the threats to run a primary opponent are true. If they are I expect Arlen to lose his seat before the General Election and for a democrat to walk in by a landslide because PA has become deep blue.

34. Arlen has to beat the odds twice to win
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 10:26 PM by creeksneakers2
Once in the primary. Specter almost lost to a winger last time. This time he has the vote for the stimulus package against him. Even if Arlen wins the primary, plenty of Republicans won't bother to vote for him in the general.

His race will divide the GOP irreparably. He's getting on in years too. I don't expect Specter to run.
