Looks like Obama will be signing the stimulus bill into law in Denver...
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/02/14/obama-to-sign-stimulus-bill-in-denver-on-tuesday/

President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two senior administration officials confirm to CNN.

Both officials cited a desire to get out of Washington — to go, in the words of one official, “out west in an area hit hard economically, away from the politics of Washington.”

Now I have questions, since I live in the Denver area.

1. Will the signing be a public event, or will President Obama be holding any public events while he is in Denver?

2. If yes, when, where, and do I need a ticket? I wanna go!

1. It's encouraging to see a president not only visiting areas outside of DC, but doing so for such
important events that would normally take place inside the bubble of DC. Signing this bill in Denver, whether in a closed ceremony or in some open public venue is such a wonderful signal that Obama wants people to feel a part of this beyond merely supporting it.

I'd love to hear about Obama planning a trip to the Bay Area, although I have a feeling it's a long shot.

If you can attend, you certainly should, although that doesn't need to be said.

2. Peripheral issue: what happens to a bill between Congress and the POTUS' desk?

5. Cool information. Thanks for the link, Bloo! That's gonna be a pretty big box for this bill,
unless it is just the formal front page in the binder.

9. I volunteer my house!
We've replaced most of the light bulbs with CFLs, and we've upgraded all the windows and added weatherstripping. We take the bus.

Most important of all, I'd be willing to take the day off work to act as host. It's a sacrifice, but I'd do that for my country.

10. Hope he'll spend LOTS of time
outside of cities and DC, in the 'hinterland,' so he can't be identified as a 'Washington' pol. Signing in Denver could be an early step in direction of meeting and greeting for '12.
